Species: Monsters

Monster is a very broad term referring to any particular being of (usually) supernatural existence that doesn't fit into a particular category. They also can exist as a species on their own. That is to say, some beings can only be classified as 'monsters' and nothing else. They are often strange in nature and have defining characteristics that make them known as monsters. Some refer to them as 'abominations' and cite that they are beings that should not exist!

Traits often exhibited in monsters can include but are not limited to:
• Extra legs
• Extra eyes/no eyes/weird eyes
• Multiple mouths/mouths in places where there usually aren't/no mouth
• Needle teeth
• Orifices leaking a tar-like substance
• Insect-like bodies/appendages
• Arachnid-like bodies/appendages
• Centipede-like bodies/appendages
• Sometimes bird-like bodies/appendages
• Sometimes snake-like bodies/appendages
• Chimera traits
• Bodies producing strange substances
• Wings/extra wings
• Abnormal skin tone (eg. paper white)
A few subspecies of monsters include:
• Tea Kettle Cats
• Sugar Stars
• Strawberry Princesses
• Heartseeker Angels
• Echidna
• Lamia
• Harpy

Species: Hybrids

Hybrid is a broad term referring to any combination of two or more species. Generally, they are beings that are not supposed to exist, and it is unknown why they do. They are sometimes referred to as 'anomalies' or even considered a form of monster in their own right. Traits/behaviors between species mix and sometimes clash in not-so-appealing outcomes.

Examples of hybrids include:
• Monster/demon
• Monster/fae
• Fae/angel
• Deity/monster
• Dreamchild/fae
• Ghost/dream

Species: Dreams

Dreams are beings that are created from people's dreams. They are physical manifestations of a person's dreams, either through a specific aspect of a dream or the entire dream itself. The appearance and behavioral traits of a dream widely varies, but a universal constant among dreams is that their bodies are typically stable, and they often have colored sclera. In addition, dreams will often have a pastel color scheme. A dream's appearance can resemble a living or deceased person. Dreams that are corrupted turn into nightmares.

An example of a dream...
A person dreams of them and their sibling from a time when they were happy. That aspect of the dream manifests into the physical world, taking the appearance and personality of their sibling from when they were younger. The dream's behavior is depicted through how their sibling viewed them at that point in time. It's a sad reminder of the past.

Species: Nightmares

A nightmare is different from a dream in that their existence is destructive in nature. Though dreams can be negative or bad individuals, dreams can only turn into nightmares when they are corrupted in some way. For example, a dream can be corrupted through being consumed with a negative emotion. Once a dream becomes a nightmare, they cannot switch back. They can only perish. Appearance and behavioral traits of nightmares widely vary, but their bodies are usually unstable, and they have colored sclera. Nightmares often have a greyscale color scheme. Nightmares feed off of dreams, either eating their body as a whole or feeding off of their spirit or blood.

Species: Dreamchildren

The bodies of dreamchildren are always unstable. They are abstract beings and are also known as 'nightmare kids'. When they experience emotional instability, their body changes. Often they have many different forms, mostly with monstrous appearances. Because of this, they can be considered a form of monster. Their main qualities include paper white skin and black hair. Strange things can be found in the insides of dreamchildren, such as extra teeth, eyes, and extra organs. They generally don't need to eat. However, they get cravings for materials which are usually considered non edible, such as ice, dirt, plastic, raw meat, fabric, and stuffed toys. They are their own individuals, and they are created when dreams reproduce.

[x] 'Dreamchildren' were coined by Tearzah.

Species: Fae

The term fae refers to a variety of magical beings. They are also known as faeries and can exist as a species on their own (ie. Beings simply referred to as 'faeries' alone). They range from humanoids, to furries, to nature spirits. Subspecies can include elementals, pixies, dragons, sirens, sprites, and nymphs. Leanan sidhe and Kesaran Pasaran can also be considered subspecies of fae. Fae vary in size and height, and some are able to alter their height at will. Though they are often attributed to have a pair of wings, not all faeries have them. Fae often have a pastel color scheme.

[x] 'Fae' were coined by Tearzah.

Species: Demons

Demons are very abstract beings. Most default to a moderately human like state. Depending on the individual, their bodies can either be incredible stable or unstable. The body's stability is dependent on the mind of the specific demon. Emotions are a heavy factor in determining the body's physical state. When a demon experiences emotional instability, horns and other demon traits tend to come out. A demon can have many different bodies. Their different bodies are usually specific to them as an individual and often hold meaning. Demons are capable of turning humans into their own kind. In order for a human to become a demon, the death of that individual is required. Most demons have a weakness to holy magic and are hurt by it. But there are some who are capable of withstanding it, whether through training or by a natural tolerance to it.

Common demon traits:
• Wearing a halo atop their head
• Paper white skin
• Sharp teeth/nails
• Tails, sometimes ending in a shape (eg. A heart)
• Horns/many horns
• Changing hair color/hairstyle
• Changing eye color
• Oddly-shaped pupils and weird eyes (such as in the formation of a diamond)
• Monstrous arms
• Large claws
• Extra arms
• Extra legs
• Extra mouths
• Extra eyes
• Goat-like bodies/appendages (such as in the case of the Baphomet)
A few subspecies of demons:
• Bakeneko
• Kasha
• Succubus
• Incubus
• Baphomet
• Vampire (up for debate; considered demonic in nature but not exactly demons. They also fit into the categories of the devils as well of the undead)
• Devil (again, considered demonic but not exactly demons)
• Alp
• Fallen angel
• Imp
• Arch imp
• Archdemon
• Oni
• Iro-Oni (Color Oni)
• Amanojaku
• Some or all youkai, depending on definition

Species: Angels

Angels, like demons, are very abstract beings. However, their physical bodies are usually stable. They have a "default" human body that they can use to hide their angelic appearance. Angels are able to turn humans and other beings into their own kind. They often have halos or a halo of horns around their head. Angels are also thought to be pure and kindred spirits by nature, but this often varies from individual to individual. Though most are born knowing some type of holy magic. They are often tasked with the responsibility of collecting and guiding taken souls. Some, however, prefer to consume them, while others lead more carefree lives. By some, angels are considered to be quite childish. They are often attributed with a white color scheme and are genderless (but not always).

Common angel traits:
• A halo atop their head, sometimes adorned with decorations
• Horns placed in a halo formation atop their head
• Feathery wings
• Extra eyes
• Extra arms
• Extra legs
• Many eyes covering their entire body
• Weird eyes/no eyes/missing eyes
• More commonly blind, deaf, or mute
• No mouth
• Multiple faces
• Animal characteristics (including ears)
• Serpent-like bodies/appendages
Common angel accessories/attire:
• Blindfolds
• Cross imagery
• Chains
• Masks/surgical masks
• Dresses
Ninefold celestial hierarchy of angels:
• Seraphim
• Cherubim
• Throne
• Dominions
• Virtues
• Powers
• Principalities
• Archangels
• Angels

• Cupid heart angel
• Flower angel (and any subspecies)
• Forget-me-not angel
• Electric angel
• Dwarf angel
• Diseased angel

Species: Vampires

Vampires resemble humans, and most started off as such. How their species spreads is through an infection travelling through bodily fluids, most notable saliva and blood. Simply put, vampires are walking corpses that manage to function properly only by feeding on blood. What the species' blood the vampire feeds on is up to preference, and most prefer to feed solely on humans. Though they have a natural instinct to prey on anything containing blood. Vampires are able to eat foods typically consumed by humans, but it does not sustain them and provides them no nutrients. It tends to make them ill. Vampires who make a bad habit of this will find themselves starved. They may have been human at one point, but they are not anymore. They stay the same age as they were on the day they were turned. They forfeit growth and maturity in exchange for eternal life.

Vampires are considered demonic in nature. But it is debatable whether or not they are actual demons. Some consider them to be either devils or of the undead. If they are demons, many consider them to be the lowest form of demon.

Direct exposure to sunlight is extremely painful for vampires. The daytime seems to make them sleepy by default. Garlic and roasted soybeans only harm them if they consume them or if they make contact with the skin. Christian crosses and holy imagery seems to harm them without having to make contact with skin, but only in the long term. In the short term, skin contact with Christian crosses and holy imagery seem to leave a burn. They are physically unable to enter churches or holy places.

A vampire's first defense mechanism against a predator is often their bite. When aggravated or startled, they tend to hiss or growl, and most try to make themselves appear larger than they really are in order to intimidate. The power of a vampire varies by individual, but most are considered to be weak. Besides sustaining themselves with blood, most vampires do not possess any natural inhuman abilities, such as heightened strength or speed. They are unable to fly, even if they do possess wings, or turn into bats.

Common traits in vampires:
• Pointed ears
• Sharp fangs
• Abnormally pale skin
• Paper white skin
• Small stature (in the case of some)
• Bat-like wings or artificially-crafted wings (in the case of some)
• Possessiveness/obsessiveness
Notable vampires:
• Damian Lai

Species: Reapers

Reapers are beings that harvest the spirits of the dead. They are also known as harvesters. They often do with these spirits as they please. They possess the abilities to seal away spirits, such as in things like dolls. Reapers resemble humans, but are considered by some to be a type of angel. Most reapers seem docile by nature. They often appear to be in a hazy, dreamlike state. They have a tendency to remain relatively quiet until they become excited, in which they then become startlingly loud. They commonly lack empathy/sympathy, and they do not experience guilt in the same way that humans do. They have trouble relating to others sometimes because of this. They rarely experience romantic attraction; most of the bonds they form are platonic. They have a tendency to dress very plainly, usually in a monochromatic or grayscale color scheme.

Common traits in reapers:
• Small stature
• Heavy-lidded eyes
Common reaper accessories/items:
• Scythe
• Chains (for binding)
• Lantern

Species: Dolls

Dolls are artificial objects most often of small size and with human or humanoid appearances. Those simply referred to as 'dolls' are usually born with a soul upon creation. They have bodily flesh and are able to move freely, grow their hair, and experience emotions as other living beings do. Dolls are often born genderless but not always. They have no life span, making them immortal in the sense that they cannot die naturally from old age. They are also known as living dolls. There exist dolls that attain sentience upon their 100th year of creation, becoming a type of tsukumogami, or dolls that become youkai in their own right. Dolls that are possessed are referred to as marionettes. Reapers will sometimes place the souls they have harvested into dolls. There also exists demons that resemble dolls and claim to be so.

Common traits in dolls:
• Ball joints
• Paper white skin or abnormal skin tones
• Small stature or inhumanly small size
Subspecies of dolls:
• Clockwork doll
• Patchwork doll

Species: Ghosts

Ghosts are beings that started off as humans and have since passed. They often resemble how they looked at death. There are some who are bound to the place they died in and are unable to leave. Wandering spirits tend to travel from place to place, haunting as they please. Ghosts often involuntarily make the surrounding area cold. It is common for them to exert a negative influence on the living humans around them just by their presence. They are usually not visible to humans unless they choose to be. Some appear to be translucent.

Notable characteristics of some ghosts:
• Semitransparent
• No legs, being replaced by a ghost "tail"
• Completely solid (oddly enough)
