Seth had introduced himself to a few people already, but for some reason only one or two were interested in who he was, all of whom were currently tagged as out in the dodgeball game in gym class. Seth had thought that gym class would be more about improving physical fitness and sporting exercises, not the american game of dodgeball. He was holding his own on Lucas' team so far, helping others out where he could and strategising the best times to throw any balls he did have. He had no intention of being involved in a losing team.
Standing at about five foot six inches and looking fairly well-built for his age, he wasn't an easy target to miss, but he wasn't slow either, perhaps one of the faster and more athletic students here, which is why he was disappointed with gym class so far. Making it a bit more fun for himself, no one had noticed a few of his ball throws had a bit of extra 'oomph' behind them. There were too few people left now for it not to be realised what he was doing forcing him to play fair.
It didn't stop him playing tactically though. He makes his way to Lucas "The girl with the white vest top, every throw she makes, she steps wide from the group to get more power from her throw, she's vulnerable when she first lets go, we just need to draw the ball out from her, fancy being cannon-fodder?" Seth ducks as a ball flies over his head, hits the wall with a thud and bounces into the centre of the court.
((Hopefully I'll get to delve into this character a bit more soon ))

Lily was watching the moves of the other team as she took shots to pick off players still knowing Ni'tri and her weer having a match her eyes watching Seth as she smirked throwing one towards him fast and hard she didn't care how hard she hit she was in it for the fun of kicking butt as she knew most of her team had dwindled. she had a few players left but she figured it might end up being her and a few others together.
Ni'tri looked at them going over. "i'll be the Fodder if he doesn't want to. let's kick their asses" she said as she smiled and nodded to Seth, her body deep cappuccino chocolate colour and her eyes a deep set orange that made her look serious yet kind at the same time.

Lucas managed to block the ball that Lily threw in Seth's direction with one he scooped up near his feet and the smile on his face widened for just a second. He took a chance to look back at Seth then. "Being cannon fodder is fine with me," he said as he tried to take a shot at the girl to draw her attention towards him. He made sure to move away from Seth and Ni'tri so that either of them could try the luck while the she was distracted.
He still wasn't really bothered if his team lost or won, but it always felt better to win. Especially as the game seemed to drag along longer than he had expected. Lucas really hoped that this was just a warm up.

"You go first, Mr. Polite" Flaera said gesturing at Trinrst, who's red spots grew in size at the girl with the flaming horns who'd volunteered him when he hadn't even said anything. He'd just been politely listening to Vito, he hadn't interrupted or anything, and his name wasn't 'Mr. Polite' either. The Tezcan folded both pairs of arms, tilted his head to one side and provided Flaera with a lidless glare in the hopes that the other creature would get the hint "My name is not Mr. Polite, it is Trinrst"
"Okay, fine, Trinrst, would you please go first?" Flaera said, mimicking his tone in such a way it was rather hard to tell whether she was mocking him or not. Trinrsts red spots disappeared, replaced by a completely unbroken grey-green colour as he appeared to find this acceptable from the girl before he started to speak.
"My family don't really sssettle down enough for me to sssay I grew up in any one place, I ssspend time with mother and father very sssporadically. With mother, it'sss usually on the largessst sspace sstation in our territory... when they're sssure it'sss ssafe, but with father I travel a lot. He'sss the leader of our people and as Flaera has already sssaid, orchesstrated the largessst alliance we have ssseen for many, many years. He hopesss that one day I may follow in his..." Trinrst stopped, lost for words-or more likely trying to figure out what was the Common equivalent for the Tezcan expression "well, he wantss me to continue hiss work at forging alliancesss with othersss. This place is of high quality and has more attending than jusst the racess we sssee all the time. It ssseemed fitting. I've been to my homeworld... once. It'sss not encouraging" Trinrst stopped again, lost for words as the blue colour returned, and he looked at Flaera with a pleading that was obvious even in lidless eyes. Clearly, something about his homeworld bothered him so much that he didn't want to talk about it. Flaeras bizarre eyes narrowed, but she sighed and waved a taloned hand as though trying to swat an invisible bug out of the air.
"Well, personally I grew up with my dear old Dad, in the House of Krazz alongside a lake of molten sulphur. Ahhh, seeing the vapours rise every morning under the muted sun-so beautiful" she said, eyes slightly glazed at thinking about the place "he's a very powerful being in our realm, so, we occasionally get visitors in the portal chamber in the middle of the mansion-even one of your kind on occasion Trinrst-as well as many other species". She frowned however, as Trinrsts snout had dropped open in shock at her saying that one of his kind visited her. "What's the matter with you?" she asked, puzzled "did I say something wrong? She definitely looks like one of you-except she's usually wearing a cloak"
"She-cloak... no, it's nothing, nothing at all" Trinrst said, piqueing Paolas curiousity but quite obviously not wanting to continue. "Okay..." Flaera said, giving Trinrst a very odd look, she shrugged her shoulders "well, usually Dad's busy with contracts, so I spend a lot of time outdoors. Or in the mansion, there's so many hidden rooms, tricks and traps I'd never get bored. Oooh, there's a volcano right near us though, and he'd stop working just so we could go and bask in the rain of molten rocks. It's wonderful having something so warm splash your skin, don't you think? I'd love to show you guys sometime" Flaera closed her eyes and grinned the sharp grin, then opened them again, apparently oblivious to how much stranger her home was to most of the rest of them.
((Flaera was just supposed to be an experiment, but she's certainly growing on me XD))
((EDIT: Grrr. Stupid spelling mistakes... I think I got them all now... I hope))

"Uhhh..." Vito was about to reply, trying to think of how he could explain to this crazy girl that fire was completely deadly to most people present, when he was interrupted by the electronic voice that had spoken to them at the beginning of the class.
"That is enough time. I hope that you have sufficiently familiarized yourselves with each other... or at the very least learned each other's names."
The simulator lit up, projecting a large series of images up for all of the students to see, many of which were recognizable as famous moments as well as famous thinkers in evolutionary biology. "Welcome to Evolutionary Biology." The letters flashed up before the students as the voice said them. "I am your teacher for this subject. The school has designated me as C.H.A.R.W.I.N., you shall address me by this name and no other." "Wait, the simulator is our teacher?" Natanga exclaimed, her voice suggesting that this was a most unpleasant surprise for her. "Your keen observational skills will serve you well in this class, Natanga." The computerized voice replied. It was difficult to tell whether it was being sincere or sarcastic, for it didn't carry emotion too well, but a few students sniggered at this. Vito also found it amusing, but felt compelled to restrain himself for the sake of keeping peace at the table.
"For those of you who do not know, evolutionary biology is a sub-field of biology. An evolutionary biologist is chiefly concerned with the origin of species from a common descent and descent of species, as well as their change, multiplication and diversity over time." As CHARWIN explained this, the simulator's projectors showed students an ocean, filled with organisms, speeding through the millennia in a matter of seconds, going from bacteria that were too small to see to large, fish-like creatures. "All worlds capable of containing life experience this, unless they are tampered with in some way... Although usually, even if tampered with, life finds a way." The simulator changed scenes to a prehistoric jungle, filled with reptiles of all shapes and sizes, with a colossal meteor bearing down on them. Mere seconds before the meteor hit the projection stopped. "This is quite a famous scenario that some of you may recognize. What I am showing you now is but a theory. Guesswork, as to how countless lives were extinguished and evolution on a planet suddenly and violently changed it's course. There are still many mysteries in our field, the likes of which I am sure that you are keen to explore."
"I shall begin your class with a simple assignment. It is one that you shall repeat later in the year, so that both you and I may see just how much you have learned, but for now I would like to see exactly what you know. I would like students to proceed, one group at a time, into the simulation chamber. Once in there I will present you with an environment and a scenario. Many of these will be straight from the pages of history books. You must then nominate which of the species that I present to you will survive, and rationalize your decision." The entire class began to murmur excitedly almost as soon as they heard CHARWIN's instructions, though they had unknowingly cut him off in their eagerness to begin the class. "Once again, I shall only let one group in at a time. The rest of you would do well to brainstorm in the meantime."
The table full of humanoids that Vito had been thinking of joining before got up as soon as they heard this and rushed over to the simulator and entered it quickly. That seemed a little too quick for Vito, but perhaps they had the right idea? The key to impressing a teacher was to be confident in your knowledge, or so he'd heard. "What do you all think of this?" Krii asked, looking to others in the group with a slightly anxious look on his face. "I'm not terribly familiar with this subject, I only chose it because I thought that it sounded interesting." Natanga replied bluntly, still seeming a bit miffed with how the teacher had humiliated her earlier. "It's a difficult problem to solve if we don't know the conditions in advance..." Vito replied, folding his arms and thinking deeply. "I think what CHARWIN was trying to show us was that evolution can be unpredictable." Krii tilted his head to one side, his species equivalent to folding arms, and joined Vito in deep thought. "Maybe... Maybe when we are given choices we should pick the one that we think could not possibly survive?" "I don't know if that would be right either though... What do the rest of you think?"

Paolas polite smile at Flaeras invite vanished at hearing CHARWINs voice again, luckily, noone was given enough time to answer the crazy orange girl and possibly cause offence. Unluckily for Paola, her unease around computers grew tenfold at hearing it was the simulator itself that was teaching them. She wasn't the only one either, as Natanga spoke up in displeasure to be shot down, whether it was intentional or not the little girl couldn't tell.
The projections however, were amazing, and even despite the unfamiliarity Paola found herself engaged in watching it.
Then there was the first assignment, which the others seemed keen but apprehensive about starting. Paola folded both pairs of arms-as did the Tezcan-and tilted her head in the manner she'd picked up off her mother. "Well, it'd probably be the 'strongest' one-but..." "How do you determine what is strong when you don't know the scenario yet?" the Tezcan finished for her, as they had apparently come upon the same thought. Flaera leaned on the table with an elbow, taloned hand holding her chin up and the sharp smile gone "Maybe we shouldn't go for the strongest or weakest, maybe we should go for one between the two" the odd girl with the love of fire and things harmful to others mused.
Paolas silver eyes widened slightly as a horrible thought entered her head. "Do you think maybe CHARWIN's expecting us to fail this first time?" she asked, earning mildly puzzled looks and Trinrstr scales to gain blue speckles as he answered "So we should fail intentionally?"
"No" Paola said, waving a higher arm in a similar manner to Flaera before "that's not what I meant. Forget it, let's just concentrate on this problem"
"What about the animals level of intelligence, wouldn't that play a part?" Trinrst spoke again, tapping his chin with the tiny claws on the ends of his fingers.
"We're not really getting anywhere, are we?" Paola asked everyone "Strength seems to be subjective to the scenario, which we won't knnw 'til we get in there. Maybe we should all tell each other what we consider to be an advantage before we go in?" she said, enthusiasm overcoming shyness once again.

"I think that's a good idea." Vito said, agreeing with Paola's suggestion. "If we're talking about evolution, I think that the biggest strength would be in numbers. Creatures that breed prolifically and live short lives are ideal. Insects are perhaps the best example of this."
"I can see what you are getting at Vito, but I disagree." Natanga interrupted, thought she was at least being civil about it this time. "What we need to focus on are predators and carnivores. Those who are at the top of the food chain, and thus, untouchable." "No, definitely not," Vito replied, shaking his head. "Typically those at the top of the food chain are small in number, while those that they prey on are far more numerous. There's also the danger of being too successful; evolution happens only when there is a struggle for survival. They're quite vulnerable to sudden changes in the environment, and typically don't adapt very well." "Oh, really?" Natanga replied, genuinely curious. She was not terribly knowledgeable in this subject, so it was difficult for her to argue with somebody who was, especially when she was here to learn.
"Hm, I don't know about that..." Krii interjected, tilting his head to one side. "I think that Trinrst was on the right track when he was talking about intelligence. I don't know of many worlds where the sentient creatures living there aren't the dominant species, surely intelligence and being on the path to sentience is the key to evolutionary success."
At this point in the discussion the simulation chamber opened it's doors, and the humanoid group walked out, looking quite sheepish and embarrassed. "I'll be back in a moment." Vito said, quickly leaving his table to find out what they'd done. Perhaps it would provide them with some kind of clue to go on? "That was quick, what happened in there?" Vito asked the group. A few of them turned away, but one of them, a bit on the tall side with darker skin and a shaved head decided to give him an answer. "We... We picked the apes. They seemed to be doing great - intelligent, strong... and hey, apes have done well in the past, right?" Another of the humanoids, a short girl with thick glasses and a sharp frown on her face interrupted. "They were roasted alive when their sun suddenly flared up, causing a dramatic change in temperature. Reptiles thrived, quickly closed the evolutionary gap and went on to rule the world." The group returned to their table to contemplate their failure, quickly turning on each other and arguing over who was the one responsible for the poor choice.
Vito returned to his table, pleased that he hadn't joined that group, but at the same time feeling no closer to solving this conundrum than before. He had suspected that CHARWIN would cause a sudden change in the environment to throw them off, to teach them that evolution was unpredictable... But how could they predict something when the lesson was meant to be unpredictable? "They had a choice between reptiles and apes on a planet where the apes seemed to be doing very well." Vito reported to his group. "The sun grew hotter all of a sudden for some reason, to the point that the warm-blooded apes started dying out and the reptiles, being cold-blooded, thrived."
"... Shall we go next?" Krii asked the group tentatively. "The human group came out after only a few minutes, so most other groups now seem to be hesitating... Or we could continue discussing this, and maybe then once the next group has gone through we can ask them about it to gather more information?"
Vito looked back to the humanoid group once more to see if anybody else had the same idea. A large insectoid student resembling an oversized cockroach scurried over to speak with them, but was rather quickly and rudely turned away. Vito frowned as he watched the insectoid student sadly scuttle back to it's table, he was definitely glad that he hadn't joined that group.

As Lucas stepped away from the safety of the group, Seth saw the opening he'd been looking for. The girl in the white top took a sidestep from the others to launch a ball at Lucas' head. Not hesitating, as soon as her arm swung out Seth threw his ball with uncanny accuracy at the girl catching her out. She walks away from the her group looking a bit a surprised rubbing her now sore shoulder giving Seth a few dirty glares.

Lucas managed to quickly move out of the way though Klay had made sure to give him an extra tug in the right direction just to make sure. Although he only met the young teenager recently, he had a feeling he'd be able to get along well with him. Seth appeared to be an interesting guy as well. He made a mental note to get to know him a bit more after the lesson was over.
There didn't seem to be many players left on either side, but no one seemed to want to give up. "Do you think we should ask to call it a draw?" Klay asked Lucas while he managed to dodge the one or two balls that floated in his direction. The strange golden glow that appeared in them seemed to intimidate one of the girls on Lily's team and down went another player.
"Unless the teacher has other plans for the lesson, let's try to win this one," Lucas replied while he scooped up another ball. "I don't think Lily intends to give up on it any time soon."
Klay laughed which made his brown eyes shine gold again. "Said like a true team captain. Do you have any ideas, fearless leader?"
"Not really. Just duck," Lucas said while he quickly dodged another ball.

((:O... Awesome, the very people Paola has issues with XD))
Paola was once again chewing her lower lip unconsciously, as she thought and took in what everyone was saying. She agreed with Vitos first statement, that producing a lot of offspring would be very helpful. She didn't really know that much about insects either, and it definitely sounded like he did, so she'd take his word when it came to them. Natanga brought up the large predators-and, Paola was happy to see, she and the Serpells boy were speaking at least civilly to each other. Their brief debate did give the little girl something to address should she ever visit her fathers system though.
Krii began to speak, talking about intelligence and how it was usually the smarter creatures that were dominant on worlds he knew of-when the simulator opened and the group of humanoids from before came out. They looked embarrassed and sheepish-which, Paola was horrified to find made her feel glad. Vito then excused himself to go speak to them, most of whom turned away from him as Paola watched them with a mixture of amusement and apprehension. She turned back to the table she hoped before they noticed her odd look, and tried to concentrate again. Vito returned and reported what they'd done in there, Paola found her amusement growing at their predictable choice-much to her disgust, once again.
But now, they had a dilemma-go into the chamber whilst the others were hesitating, or stay out here for a bit longer? From what Vito had found out of the other group, it sounded like they hadn't really had many clues as to what would happen next on the world they'd been shown-but maybe that was the point, and even gathering more information off the following groups wouldn't give them all that much help?
"I say we go in" Flaera said suddenly, making Paola jump out of her deep thought and causing a brief flare of silver on Trinrsts part. Paola nodded her head slowly, silver hair waving with each movement. "I was thinking the same thing" she said. "So was I, let'sss go in and sssee what awaitsss uss"
Trinrst too concurred, Of course, they paused before rushing off, to see if Krii, Vito and Natanga were gonna come along as well

"I suspect that we'll get it wrong too..." Natanga replied. "But I get the feeling that's not going to change regardless of when we choose to go. Now is fine by me." She left her seat and began to move towards the simulation chamber, determined not to let any of the other tables try to cut in now that they'd made their decision.
"Yes, I think that's the best choice." Krii agreed cheerfully, standing up to join the group. He was pleased that somebody was willing to make the difficult suggestion, and the curiosity to try his hand at the task was quite overwhelming.
The only one left was Vito. Truth be told he did not want to leave the table just yet, for he saw value in waiting longer. They could ask more students what happened, gather more data to get a better understanding of what was to be expected of them... But he couldn't do this alone. Working together was, supposedly, an important part of this class. "Alright then, let's go." He said, standing up.
The group made their way over to the chamber, impressing some groups and making others feel relieved. Vito noted that the group with the insectoid student at it seemed to be amongst those breathing sighs of relief, and more interestingly, the multicultural table of females was the only group to be somewhat irritated by their decision, apparently having made the same choice just a minute too late. They entered the chamber amidst hushed whispers, and then silence descended as the door closed. The room was filled with darkness for a moment, and then it lit up suddenly. As it did, all of the students present would find their feet lifting off the ground as they floated in place - this was a simulation of an ocean, vast and teeming with life. Vito was quite surprised, for he'd thought that the simulator merely projected images, and it looked as though he wasn't the only one. Krii squawked with shock before remembering that this was just a simulation.
"Ah, how embarrassing..." He mumbled nervously. "Sorry, I know it's not real, but as somebody who can't swim I still find this unsettling." "It's not scream-worthy, but it's certainly unpleasant... It even feels wet." Natanga noted, her face expressing her own dislike of the water.
Vito, unlike Krii and Natanga however, loved the water. The sensation of floating, of weightlessness, put his mind and ease. Waves of inexplicable nostalgia washed over him, reminding him of his home, even though his home was a perfectly dry and normal apartment.
"If you find the simulation to be too much you may leave." CHARWIN's computerized voice echoed through the ocean. "However, should you choose to do so, you will fail instantly. The world of evolutionary biology takes us to many places that we do not want to go to, and forces us to observe many things that we do not wish to bear witness to. It is best to get used to it early." "Oh... Don't mind me then... I, I'll be fine." Krii did not sound very convincing, and he was already looking a little paler than before, but if he did not want to go then Vito saw no reason to force him into doing so. CHARWIN seemed like a strict and unforgiving teacher, so as it suggested Vito agreed that it would be best to get used to this kind of thing quickly. Natanga too seemed unlikely to help Krii, remaining her stoic and unfriendly self.
"The assignment is as I said it was before. I will present you with an environment and a scenario. Many of these will be straight from the pages of history books. You must then nominate which of the species that I present to you will survive, and rationalize your decision." CHARWIN stated, repeating it's earlier instructions. "The species that I present to you are as follows:"
"SPECIMEN A is a carnivorous cetacean. They travel and hunt in small packs, focusing on taking down large prey for big meals, and they must travel up to the surface every few hours for air. In this era, they are towards the top of the food chain, though they are no match for larger predators."
"SPECIMEN B is a scavenger decapod crustacean. It feeds on dead matter that falls to the ocean floor, and uses it's pincers and exoskeleton to ward away predators. They are technically at the bottom of the food chain due to their diet."
"SPECIMEN C is a herbivorous cephalopod. It feeds on seaweed and various other forms of marine algae, and can camouflage when it is threatened. They are quite low down on the food chain."
Each of the species appeared suspended before the group, one after the other. Specimen A was quite a fierce-looking creature, looking halfway between a crocodile and a dolphin. They were a brilliant silver-blue in colour, almost beautiful until you looked up close at it and got a glimpse of it's vicious jaws. Specimen B was also quite impressive, like a walking fortress, massive in size, with two intimidating pincers and ten legs. It was a dull orange colour, but it had a beautiful variety of flowering seaplants growing on it's exoskeleton. Specimen C was quite pathetic by comparison to these two creatures, looking like a fat yellow octopus with six purple eyes. The bright colours were misleading however, for the simulation soon showed that it was quite capable of making itself nearly impossible to see.
"The scenario is that the world is changing; landmasses are forming and the oceans are receding. Two of these species will not survive this scenario, you must choose the one that will. You may each ask one question, then you must make your decision as a group. You have ten minutes to make your decision." CHARWIN explained. This was a new rule that it had not mentioned before, but it certainly made sense. Without more information, this was nothing more than a guessing game. CHARWIN was testing them, both individually and in groups, to see if they knew what kinds of questions to ask and to see if they could work towards a mutual goal. Very clever, Vito thought to himself. Now they just needed to take the time to think carefully and decide exactly what they would ask so that they could all get a good ide-

"Specimen B, Specimen C, Specimen A. B is the oldest, followed closely by C. A is very young by comparison."
"Natanga, what is wrong with you? We're supposed to be working together!" Vito snapped, turning to demand an answer from the Naga. "Mine seemed like the obvious question to ask." She replied coldly, making no apologies. "Besides, we need to ask our questions quickly. The simulator said that we only have ten minutes to make a decision, if we don't ask all of our questions in time we'll lose them.
Vito and Natanga went silent, both seeming to disagree with the other's approach. Krii was looking too queasy to approach them and play his role as peacekeeper once more unfortunately, so the uneasy tension remained unchallenged.

((No, that's not at all annoying 3kul. Makes it a lot easier to see who's saying what especially when there's lots of NPCs talking. So., i'm gonna do that too ^_^ ))
Paola didn't notice the other tables watching them, for the second she'd stepped away from theirs she felt nervous, and only managed to keep up with the enthusiastic Naga by fixing her eyes on the door of the simulator whilst deliberately ignoring all the eyes on their group. She wasn't being rude or anything of course-she just felt that if she stopped now, she'd never move from that spot again.
Thankfully they were all soon inside the simulator, which went dark when the door closed. Darkness was apparently something none of them had a problem with-unlike what came after the lights came on.
Flaera, oddly for a creature with flames on the top of her head, didn't seem to find this at all unsettling. In fact she found the water fascinating, and reacted to it just as strangely as she had everything else-if the giggle and comment of "Hey, this stuff tickles!" from her was anything to go by.
Trinrst, in contrast to most of the others seemed to take the appearance of the water in his 'stride', so to speak. His initial surprised silver flash gave way almost immediately to the contented grey-green colour of his kind. Trinrst was just at home upon the water as he was slithering along solid ground-as were most other Tezca.
On the other hand, Paola had reacted rather badly to the simulated ocean. She hadn't said a word or cried out unlike Krii, however that was only because she was too terrified to speak. Her face had gone so pale with fear anyone looking at her could believe there was no blood in that head. The small girl stared, wild eyed, at the simulated ocean around her and squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the unpleasant memories that were all her own.
Trinrst looked from Krii, to Paola, to Vito and Natanga the entire time the conversations were going on, the serpent apparently trying to decide where he would currently be most useful. Flaera had 'floated' up unnoticed near Vito and Natanga, though she was currently staring at the specimens with an openly curious expression.
Trinrst spoke up then, hoping he could at least partially defuse the situation. "You are both right. Vito hass a valid point, we all ssshould think over our quesstionss carefully" the Tezcan spoke, his unblinking eyes focussed on the Naga before they turned to the humanoid, and his scales colour changing to bright red with black spots "But Natanga alsso hass a valid point about using our time well. Sso perhapss you two could do sssomething more productive with our time than glare at each other-like helping our group membersss who are having isssuesss? Like Paola? We will be the weaker for lessss input and lessss quesstionsss. I am going to check on Krii" The Tezcan turned and made his way over to the avian student, who'd gone pale and looked nauseous "Are you okay Krii? Isss there perhapsss sssomething we can do to help you acclimatise?"
Meanwhile, Paola had just managed to crack a silver eye open, took one look at the watery environment and snapped it shut again. She didn't want to fail, not without at least trying, so she didn't want to leave-and yet... Pa6la trembled, unable to move or open her eyes again due to the terror. She could hear what was happening, of course, but that was about it.
((Trinrst has purple, Flaera has
orange, and Paola will have light blue when she manages to speak again XD. 3kul you re-traumatised my char XD)

Lily sighed as she saw the take out. "Well played boys!" she said as she tossed to the few players left a few balls she caught off the walls her eyes going to Lucas and Seth as she laughed keeping a slight eye on Ni'tri while she grinned. "Time to go all out boys. GO!" She yelled as the side she was on started to pummel the balls one after the other as hard as they could at the other team aiming at Lucas and Seth as she aimed at Ni'tri from time to time. she wanted to take out the captain as soon as she could now.

Vito decided to take Trinrst's advice and floated over to Paola. He felt that he should try and find some way to comfort her, but, lacking experience in such things, wasn't entirely sure as to how he should proceed. "It's only a simulation, there's no need to be..." To be what, exactly? Was she feeling seasick like Krii? Nervous? Afraid? "Scared." He felt somewhat confident that Paola was suffering from some kind of aquaphobia. He pressed his hand into hers, trying to get her to hold it for comfort. He didn't like the idea of being so forward, especially with such a beautiful creature, but unfortunately simply holding his hand out was unlikely to catch her attention when she had her eyes closed. Vito didn't really understand why he thought that this might work, but he remembered how his Desipad would embrace him in it's long lance-like arms whenever he felt upset, and how safe that made him feel. It was incredibly uncomfortable, but also very reassuring. "A simulation is only as real as you make it, Paola."

"N... No, I don't think that there's much that would help. It's okay though, I'll be... urp!" Krii lurching forward slightly as he made a sickly sound, covering his mouth. "Ugh, this is really very unsettling..." He murmured, looking paler than ever, but he tried to put on a brave face. "Thank you for your concern Trinrst, but I can't give up now. If I do we all fail, so let's just do our best to try and figure out this test as soon as possible."
"You should ask your question quickly Krii," Natanga spoke, offering little sympathy for her classmate. It wasn't due to a lack of empathy however, but out of respect for his decision. In putting the needs of others before his own, Krii was proving himself to be worthy of that much. "But... But Vito-" "Will get over it. Ask your question now, while your head is still somewhat clear."
Krii thought carefully, trying to figure out what could be a good question. He tried to remember all that they had discussed, but there were so many conflicting ideas it was hard to think of one to focus on... Should he ask which specimen is the strongest? The most intelligent? The most prolific breeder? What else had they talked about...
"Oh!" He suddenly realized that he had a good question to ask. It wasn't so much what they had talked about, but what they had asked about. "What unexpected developments, if any, impact future evolution on this planet, CHARWIN?" The group that had gone before them were caught by surprise because of a sudden and dramatic change in planet's climate brought on by an unexpected change in the planet's sun, and CHARWIN's earlier simulation showed them a similar unexpected development in another planet's development. Perhaps this was a theme for the test?
"... Define 'unexpected'."
Krii felt queasy, partly from seasickness but also from the confidence that he had CHARWIN on the ropes. Their simulated teacher was surely trying to find a way out of giving too much away when answering this question, so he needed to make sure that he gave a definition that gave CHARWIN no chance to do so. "An outside influence of some variety, something that we cannot predict with our current limited scope of knowledge. An asteroid impact, or perhaps a solar flare?" CHARWIN went silent for a moment, processing possible responses, then replied.
"In ten thousand years a small asteroid hits this world. It contains an alien virus that wipes out approximately 90% of life on this planet. The virus is airborne in nature, and completely unlike anything that the lifeforms of this world have ever encountered, so the effects are devastating. After less than a hundred years the virus has nothing left to infect, and dies out."
"There are several other events that impact this world in drastic ways, but this is the only one that is relevant to your current test."
Krii was quite surprised by this stunning revelation, it almost seemed too good to be true! Well, not the mass extinction, that was tragic, but the knowledge that the key to survival on this world was being the slowest to adapt. Those who emerged onto land first would fall prey to a deadly virus, while those who were unable to breath out of the water could never take it into their bodies in their first place. It was a step in the right direction, and one that would surely prove useful to the other members of his group. "I trust that you'll all make the most of that information." Krii said, smiling weakly. "I know it's asking a lot but if... if we could end this simulation as soon as possible I'd really appreciate it." He seemed about ready to throw up, and Paola was clearly struggling with this test as well.

At first Vito was outraged when he heard Krii asking his question, for it meant that yet another member of this group was going rogue, but thankfully his question was far better thought out than Natanga's. The answer was very enlightening, and gave Vito much to consider. "Did you hear that Paola? That rules Specimen A out - it's amphibious now so it probably was the first to leave the ocean, and consequently would have been the first to die." He pondered for a moment, wondering if he was jumping to too many conclusions. "Well, I suppose it doesn't really matter when it dies out, just that it ultimately does become extinct. That leaves us with Specimen B, the giant scavenger crab, or Specimen C, the camouflaging herbivorous octopus. Can you think of any good questions to help us narrow it down further?" Perhaps, Vito hoped, if he could take her mind off of the simulation itself for a while and focus on the problem at hand, she might feel a little better.

"N... No, I don't think that there's much that would help. It's okay though, I'll be... urp!" Krii lurching forward slightly as he made a sickly sound, covering his mouth.

Klay noticed that a lot of Lily's balls were directed at Lucas so he tried to keep an eye on him while dodging the balls himself. He hoped that the team captain would take that opportunity to get rid of some of Lily's team when they let the guards down slightly. Or anyone. But he didn't get a chance to have a small mid-match meeting like Seth and Lucas had earlier, so he had a feeling that plan may not be as successful as he'd like. Well, until he saw the slightly mischievous grin on Lucas' face. "You have a plan?" he asked quietly while he tried to dodge the balls.
"Perhaps," Lucas answered while he kept dodging the balls. "I can keep dodging the balls on my own. I'll try to make my way closer to Lily. When she's distracted, you or anyone else can try to take her out, alright?"
"You're crazy, but you seem to think you can do it, so I'll believe in you," Klay said before he gave Lucas a rather powerful shove in the right direction.
Lucas managed to avoid the barrage of balls while he got closer to Lily. He didn't have a chance to throw the ball in his hands at her because he needed it to help him dodge the balls, but it didn't matter since he was only a decoy. He noticed that there were very few members left on his team, but Lily's were getting close to the end to since the attack seemed to become more focused on him.
