Slinking back in...
Just a quick and inconspicuous post to apologize for being inexplicably absent for so long... I know that I left a few people hanging with some RPs, but real life has kept me very busy lately.
Hm, I don't think that I should just rock up after vanishing for 6+ months without a word and leave it at that. Real life has kept me quite busy (I'm a high school teacher now!), but it doesn't devour all of my free time like some kind of insatiable chronovore. I'm pretty fond of most of you, so I think I should probably try and be straight up. Pax and the people who post in it are fantastic to role play with, but shortly before I stopped frequenting these forums I just felt that RPing wasn't as much fun as it used to be. I didn't really get it for a while; I still enjoyed games, stories, movies, anime, manga, fantasy, sci-fi and all sorts of other ways to escape reality, why would I suddenly lose interest in just one of these things?
After thinking about it for a while, I get the feeling that the problem lies within how I was doing things. I tried to give myself a clean slate to work with after Blackstar, where I'd created characters so convoluted that their own backstories were becoming literal life stories, but in doing so I'd created a bunch of half-baked characters who seemed fun and interesting to roleplay with at first but never really 'clicked'. Half-baked might not be quite the right term... I think I was just trying to establish too much for these characters at the outset, and after I got over my initial affection for them I quickly found them tiring to roleplay with.
So I think I'd like to try again, one more time, if you'll still have me here that is. My plan is to create another new character, but one that I'd like to skimp on the details a bit; I'll fill them in later when I get a better feel for the character, rather than try to do it the other way around.
If you'd like me to continue an RP that I used to be a part of with one of my other characters feel free to ask me, even though I'd rather try and start afresh I'd still be happy to do a favour like this for many of you.

Chronovore is an awesome word and you are an awesome person for inventing it.
Welcome back, 3kul!
That said, the one thing I mostly want to continue is new new new worlds; but I can't seem to figure anything out. It's harder to deal with entire species, as opposed to a single character with their own wants and needs.

Hi 3kul, great to see you around again .
As far as your new/old chars and RPs, well, I would ask for you to continue in The Beginning but I think that one's petered out anyway, so, no problem. Not sure about the Highschool though but since it's a non-canon I don't think it should affect it too much if one/both of us dropped out anyway XD.
Anyway, welcome back!
Chronovore, brilliant ^_^

Good to hear that I've still got a big enough vocabulary to keep you all on your toes, you're all free to use the word 'chronovore' as much as you like - don't worry, I won't go and copyright it or anything
Tav: I definitely want to try to get back into New New New (New?) Worlds again, but I'm going to have to start over. I can't for the life of me remember what I had in mind for a planet with slugs as the main candidates for sentience but now I find the prospect of working with a handicap like no limbs to be mind-numbingly tedious (it'd be a hundred pages before they finally make fire or a spear). I'll try to come up with something a bit more interesting for myself.
Swix: The Beginning was an interesting RP, but The Sommelier is exactly the kind of character that I was talking about. I thought he was a great idea at first, but as I roleplayed with him I kind of felt like the only thing that I really enjoyed about him was his reverence for the legendary characters of Blackstar, which grew to the point that it was kind of clashing with his supposedly neutral personality and allegiance (or lack thereof). He's kind of broken at the moment and I don't really feel like fixing him. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future, but for now I'm afraid you'll have to settle for my apologies
I could probably keep going with Highschool if you like, young Serpells wasn't such a bad character to play with (shame that he's trapped in a non-canon future :-/ ) but it'd basically just be you and me RPing an awkward teenage romance I think, which could be kind of weird... though honestly the prospect of jointly controlling a whole school's worth of NPCs strikes me as a slightly more daunting task
Perhaps if we did a reboot more suitable to fewer roleplayers it would work a little better? Let me know if you're interested, I wouldn't mind easing my way back into roleplaying with something non-canon and a bit light-hearted.

Hm, well, fair enough XD. I had a suspicion that The Sommelier might be one of the ones you were talking about, but, I have a reason (for my chars) for leaving that RP anyway .
As for the Highschool, yeah, I see what you mean. Would be kinda weird-so I guess now is a good time to say I was planning on having Paola turn on everyone for a reason later anyway? .
I'm not sure if I'd be able to do another type of highschool one though-what did you have in mind?
I'm running The Collector is Coming and taking part in Drawing of the Line atm so I hope you won't mind semi-infrequentness of posting XD.
I also put up The Horn and Halo, which is meant to be lighthearted although it is canon, if you're interested? (Yep, shameless plug XD). Mostly since I've noticed the other RPs I've started have been quite dark and mostly serious. House of Madness that Borg started is also pretty morbidly funny too ^_^

Ah, 3kul! Welcome back!
I'm glad you found yourself drawn back into the community, and even more so that you got your teaching job! What subject do you teach, if I might ask?
Swix has given you what I would have suggested for RPs already, The Collector is Coming and The Drawing of the Line both seem to be early in their story lines, despite the number of pages they already have. I'm in TCiC myself, battling evil as always. (The Physical Embodiment this time!)
Anyway, it's really good to have you back. Looking forward to seeing you on the scene.

Wooo! Welcome back! I'll get the cake with the Woman/Man/Unspeakable horror from another dimension *delete as appropriate* inside it ready!

I was thinking pretty much the same as what we had going before, but with a setup that ensured that all RPers would be in the same class. As much as I enjoyed that RP not interacting with each other half the time (and having to create numerous NPCs to make up for that) felt like a fairly major flaw. It's fine if you don't want to though, seems like you've got a lot of other RPs going at the moment so maybe we can just shelve it for now? Paola's betrayal sounds like an interesting plot though, I would like to see it at some point
Thanks very much for the warm welcome CP and Borg! The cake has me puzzled though; how can I delete something as appropriate if the result is inappropriate?

At the moment I teach Japanese to year 7-9s, Humanities (History & Geography) to year 9s and provide ESL (English as a Second Language) support for year 7s and 8s. I'm qualified to teach Japanese and ESL to any level of secondary students but I'm not actually qualified to teach Humanities, that's just something that the school asked me to teach because I'd previously done studies in History in my earlier uni degree.

Whoops.
Anyway, a highschool with everyone in one class does sound awesome. So can we maybe shelve it for later? ^_^. Then I can show you Paolas betrayal . Unless the others would like to do one sooner? I wouldn't mind XD.

Ah, the inestimable 3kul graces us with his presence. My apologies for missing your initial reintroduction, however, I am here now and share in the excitement of the others at witnessing one of the masters express interest in this particular escape once more.
I look forward to roleplaying with you once again.

Swix: It would be a good idea to spend a bit of time planning it out first I think, I might start a thread over in the RP discussion section so that we can work on putting stuff together. Once we're all happy with it and people feel like they'd have time for another RP we can start it up.
Laur: Thanks for the welcome! You were always quite an interesting character (both in and out of roleplay) so I'm also looking forward to roleplaying with you again

I am pleasantly surprised to hear you consider me such. I will endeavour to continue that trend here.

There are two kinds of people that I hate: people who apologize and then do the same thing that they apologized for over and over again, and people who resurrect really old topics in forums.
Wait a minute...
I've recently resurfaced over on Ctopia and since Pax is another forum that I really loved being a part of I thought that I'd best check this place out as well. Hope that you don't mind me copy-pasting what I said over there but the same sentiments extend to you as well so I don't think it's such a bad thing
Sorry for abandoning you all for so long, but my life has been seriously busy for the past several months! In the time since you last heard from me I've moved out of home, secured another year long contract with my current employer (so I'm still a secondary teacher, teaching Japanese and English), bought a new car, furnished my new home, got a couple of kittens, played Skyrim... and the list goes on. It's all been a lot of fun, and makes for a very exciting time in my life, but in exchange I've become quite antisocial! I'm hoping to fix that now that things in my life are beginning to settle down again (my new home is fully furnished and I've played enough of Skyrim to be satisfied... for now ).
So what's new? Any good RPs I can hop into?

I like how Skyrim is right up there with a new car and new home. XD
It's great to see you again! There are a couple of RPs just starting up actually, The Twisted Open Challenge and Deathwatch which are both in the Non-canon section. The Twisted Open Challenge in a nutshell is "arena" combat between any of our characters, and Deathwatch is my attempt to being the 40K Tabletop RPG into a forum, since I reckon that would work really well.
