Hmmm, I shall be watching that with interest. I'm hopeful that this will give the CC the fresh blood it desperately needs. Oh and that the game is good, that'd be a plus&#33; XD

Also you can check out FTL here: http://www.ftlgame.com/ and the lovely soundtrack here: http://benprunty.bandcamp.com/album/ftl

What is this FTL thingy? I see it's a simulation game of some sort in space, but... that's it :S.

I'll have to look at this new CC stuff too, been a while since I saw or heard any news about it.

Also, a little screenshot from when CP and I did a mission together and had a combined away team ^_^.

Image

My char's the one crouching and CP's is the guy in blue stood next to her, the woman behind is Kirsty who's the First Officer from CP's crew, the female Andorian is Tallasa the First Officer from my crew, and the pink creature on the left is a female Saurian called Shuaso from my crew.

Image

Annnd I put this one up because I think it's kinda funny how my First Officer seems to be pointing her gun at CP's First Officer. I don't think they like each other much XD.

FTL is a spaceship simulation rougelike. The levels are random, and if you die, you die for good. Being a rougelike, this can sometimes be unavoidable. :P

Here's a good video demonstrating the game pretty well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-SnIhpCm5w

Ahh, glad you asked. The steam discussion page is filled with people whining about the very things that makes the game a rougelike, you'd think google wasn't a thing. :/

A Rougelike is a game that has permadeath, randomly generated levels, no save function or a very limited save function and for the most part is very hard (although luck can sometimes make you sail through the game. Don't count on it though).

The Binding Of Isaac is another example of a rougelike, as a point of reference. They're called rougelikes because they take after the game "Rouge", which was the first game to have all of these features. At the moment it's just like when FPS games were called "Doom Clones". There may be a time when it gets a different name but at the moment rougelike works fine.

The word you guys are looking for (I hope) is rogue ;)

It is finally school holidays and I can play games again&#33; I'm going to look at Star Trek Online (but I need to clear some space on my computer first...) as well as FTL, since that looks pretty cool too :)

You mean 3kul is going to be around more?

Oh my. :D

If you get into Star Trek though, give me a ring. I'm sure I could get on to <small><del>gloat about how much more bigger and powerful my ship is</del> explore the universe with you... or something.</small>

Oh, that's cool 3kul ^_^. So we may see you around a bit more then?.

If you do get in to STO maybe I'll see you around the universe too, you can see my new beautiful ship. It's taken me a lot less to level up than I thought it would(but that's because I use my crew :P), and I've barely touched the storyline. I gotta say though at the beginning it does help to have someone around who knows their way around XD.

Back to busier than expected hols&#33;

Yeah, I'll be online a bit more often than usual over the next couple of weeks, I'm looking forward to seeing more of you all before I go back to school again in early October :D

FTL is a lot of fun, I've been playing it almost non-stop for the last few hours&#33; They've really managed to hit a sweet spot with the difficulty, the level of challenge is very satisfying, and I'm only playing it on easy :P

I've lost quite a few crew members during that time, mostly to asphyxiation... I nearly beat the game just then, but I didn't realize that I was actually meant to engage the rebel warship and lost because I was avoiding it&#33; Not that I'd have stood a chance, the rebel ships had beaten me up pretty good by that point in time and my ship was getting pretty lonely with all my crew dying on me :ermm:

STO has just finished downloading, but I think I'll wait until tomorrow to play it.

EDIT: Oh, I wanted to ask, since I'm hoping to play STO with both of you, which characters/specialities/whatever did you pick to start with? I'd like to try and pick something different to both of you so that I can be useful and just to make things more interesting in general (hopefully :P )

I picked a Betazoid (which had statistics I wanted but I can't remember what they were now XD) Science Officer and I usually use a Medic Kit (but you can worry about that sort of thing later anyway) and have always flown Science Vessels bar the starter ship. Hopefully that's enough info to be going on for now ;)

... otherwise I'll probably talk your ears (eyes?) off XD

I'm also science, but human.

Your captain's specialty effects basically just ground combat. Your ships class (which you use more) can be changed every time you rank up, or between then if you want to drop a good chunk of space loot. The federation provides everything free.... to a point.

Hm, so basically I should just pick anything but science. How do I get in touch with you when I'm in the game? :)
