"Wake up... Pests." A booming growl echoed from above, calling down to the collection of so called heroes laying on the red tinged dirt of a monumental arena. It was of a classical style, though twisted with gothic influence and black marble. Clearly something Lili had designed. Over the rim, if one looked out, the tall, twisting spires of what had been The Encampment could be seen. It was unrecognizable from the happy hamlet it was only a week ago.

"I'm not sure I need to point this out... but you've failed." The Red Dragon called down, grinning nearly ear to ear. "You've lost your town, your friends, and your home. How sad."

Cheering sounds eminated from the stands, revealing the whole population of the former town had come out to watch. What had once been a diverse population of survivors was now one big herd of "Sheeple", the half cow, half sheep bipeds Lili had painted any civilians she caught into. Now too dumb to appreciate the situation, they cheered whenever Lili or Red seemed pleased, only a general consensus of excitement floating through their empty minds.

"But!" The Dragon paused for an additional round of applause. "We Dragons are a sporting kind. You could even say we were impressed with your little group of rebel's actions. As such, the Lady Lili, as kindly and fair as she is, has decided to let you... compete. Entirely for our amusement of course. Don't fool yourselves. But, should you manage to keep us impressed, we shall reward you."

"Perhaps a few of your precious citizens? Some of your decrepid little town back? Loyalty rewards. Maybe you might even work up to an audience with the Lady." He grinned.

"Of course, you have a choice in the matter. We can always find uses for hero types who choose to be more trouble than value. There is an easy way of switching that around." The Dragon pointed up to the banner hanging above the entry gate.

Tala Lupe, the werewolf bouncer of the former Horn and Halo had been magically flattened into an extremely large pelt rug, and used as decoration for today's events. Her snout was stuck in a permanent snarl, making her look uncharacteristically monsterous.

"So... shall we get started?"

The OOC POST OF DOOM!
Alright gang! You're probably thinking you didn't expect this when you checked Pax today. Basically, there has been talking. Some chat in the Cbox led to me and Swix chatting in general, and led to this.

So how was that last RP? Kind of a doozy, eh?

Well... It wasn't exactly going the way it was supposed to. Swix introduced the brush as Pax's next big event / scramble to get a mystical artifact a la CP's Qwik RP. What better way to make some hype than show off what it could really do?

And hype we got. The teaser quickly evolved into five pages of some of the best RP Pax has ever had. We would have up to six members online at a time, all reading or posting. Engaging each other on Instant. It was great. But ultimately, that's not what was set out to do. So after talking, we've decided that rather than trying to tie 5 pages of all out war into a particular direction, we would close it and start here after the fireworks.

So this! This thread is the real deal. Your character is one of the few that continued to fight, and now has ended up here to be pit in challeges for the dragon's amusement. Think mini RPs, where you'll still have to use the same co-operation and skill i've seen in the last couple days but now towards a greater goal of restoring Pax.

If you're good enough, you might even wrangle the brush for yourself.

So yeah, the new topic gives you a chance to start again. You can switch characters, and new people can hop in. You might even keep a roster of your characters in the arena as use them as the challenges present themselves. Also, as a gift of Lili's grace, you've all been put up to peak health. That means even a certain mercenary will wake up with his arm back. We all know the last in canon week has been hell for your chars, so take this gift with gusto.

And get to it!

"Of course."

The past week had been rough on the old... scratch that, changed man. While his hair retained their aged styling, a bit more vigor than before, the rest proved quite drastic. Devon slimmed considerably in the alteration period. The once bulk frame became a mere shadow of the former stature, relinquishing his physical strength to prevent a potential break-out to the free lands. Yet, it provided him the opportunity for a revolution from the inside.

Swatting off a few sparkles from his trimmed beard, he stared at the imposing audience that orbited him and his compatriots. Such a misfortune, trapped in a mindless gallery of misfits of the fallen residents of the Encampment. Devon shed a small tear at the scene. The only saving grace is that my allies most likely evaded capture.... Hopefully.

Geidra, his magical construct, slithered to the woodlands when his own capture drew near. The last thing Devon needed was Lili to get her hands on that. His fellow craftsman: Tages and the Grathon, likely were off on a trip gathering resources for more ichor-based vessels. So long they don't end fighting with each other, it should be all good. Then there's those two...

He contemplated the outcomes. The Alchemist hasn't appeared for awhile, ever since the other darkness awoken at the Encampment, the woman never informed him of her current status. Perhaps she still hates me since the Void, Devon pondered. And that... giant, jeeper... Jent? Who know of his whereabouts.

[T£(EP&RT^T!ON CO>PL%TE; S@U#CE M$G?CAL]

[<AL!%RA~ING]

[COMPLETE]

The Artificer stood in the arena, regaining it's composure after the magical teleportation, a slow and wholly unpleasant experience even for the machine.. If it had skin still, that skin would be crawling. Magic was an abomination. it was WRONG. A force that defied all the known science wielded by the Artificier Empire could be nothing else. The Artificer recalled the Mage Extermination Units developed to fight their most hated enemy and a small amount of emotion flashed in the machine's mind as it wished for such a unit to descend upon this rock.

It listened to the taunts about the civilians of this world. It cared not, they were as inconsequential as dust in the wind. Neither did it care about the settlement the mercenary had called upon it to save, it was all rubble in the end.

But a chance to meet with the abomination that had spawned the dragon before it? That could prove to be of some use. Of course simply exterminating the dragon before it would suffice. It raised it's head to look Red right in the eyes.

DO YOU THINK YOURSELF POWERFUL, MORTAL? DO YOU THINK YOURSELF TERRIFYING? I HAVE SNUFFED OUT BURNING STARS, AND WASHED AWAY COUNTLESS CIVILISATIONS IN THEIR OWN BLOOD. I AM DEATH, AND I HAVE COME FOR YOU.

Bulwark rose up to its full height, surveying the arena as it shook the after effects of the teleportation from its visual sensors. It turned slowly, letting out an amused huff of steam at what it saw. A huge burst of magical energy had awoken it, and the effects of this were clearly visible around it. But where was the source of this?

What an assembly here. Two mechanoids of distinct attitudes towards the arcane, and a man in shabby clothes. They might survive the day if the complied for some time. Except, one decided to do the opposite. Devon leered at the Artificer, annoyed at the gall it displayed at the Dragon.

"Automaton, I would be best for us all to cease the strife. There is no need for any preliminary trials right now."

"Big words, tin can." The red dragon called back, peering over the edge of their vip viewing stage at the Artificer far below.

He hadn't seen this particular monstrosity in a while, though the others were familiar. Perhaps it cared a little less for this world.

Red showed his teeth and sent a puff of sparking thundercloud at the metal man. Maybe he would explode... how entertaining would that be? Lili would probably be a bit upset with him though.

Where was she anyway?

The Artificer turned it's head to the old man, a green eldritch fire glowing from it's eye sockets.

STAY YOUR TONGUE, MORTAL, AND KNOW YOUR PLACE

It swung an arm around, and as it did so an ornate scythe with a blade wrapped in green fire materialised in it's hand. The blade seemed to cut through the air itself, leaving behind a vacuum for a moment before returning to normal.

Turning back the Artificer registered the cloud of electricity pulsing towards him. The Artificer simply allowed the cloud to envelop it, sparks lighting up it's metal frame in places. The Artificer took the opportunity to recharge it's reserve power cells with the electricity around it, the extra bursts of power could prove useful in the coming fight. When the lightning faded, the only sound remaining was a harsh, mechanical laughter.

HA. HA HA. HA HA HA! A PITIFUL ATTEMPT, MORTAL.

Lili swooped over the very top of the arena, dragging something behind her with her tail. It was a structure, entirely made out of thin black stone so it complimented everything else around her new improved Encampment. Once she was in the perfect position the Shadow Mirror Dragon let the structure go, so it hit the ground with a thud, sending dust everywhere. Something else in there squeaked in surprise and pain at the harsh landing, though it sounded far too large to be any sort of rodent.

Facing the would-be, but failed, heroes, was a door with a switch on one side of it, apparently the only entrance in. Lili banked outside of the Arena before flying back in, landing gracefully in the top tier viewing box for such a large creature. Lili grinned down at them all, glowing purple eyes and the scarf still wrapped around her neck enhancing the reflections on the rest of her body.

"Are you bothering the entertainment? Or is the entertainment bothering you?" Lili asked Red, rather cheerfully, still staring down at the captives.

"You see that door over there?" Lili said, pointing with a claw "All you lot have to do, is go through it, and get to the other side. Once there, you've completed this challenge. There will be more doors as you go through, leading to different paths. However, there is another creature in there, which will start pursuing you should you hit the wrong switches and open it's doors as you go along. Open too many wrong doors, and well, you're pretty much going to have to run for your lives"

Lili stared down particularly at the two mechanoids this time, her purple eyes narrowing "And just to make this interesting... You enter as a group, and you leave as a group, No soloing. Got it? Good"

Lili pulled her head back, and gestured nonchalantly with the same claw that she'd pointed to the door with "Well? Get on with it"

Bulwark let out a hiss of steam that sounded remarkably like a sigh, and gestured towards the structure with its spear.

Devon felt awkward navigating the maze with both robots. The Artificer seemed to hold a grudge against organics to say the least, with him being the only one in this trio doesn't help his odds in survival in future challenges. He must ally with the prideful entity in the end.

"Shall we proceed then, our observers are getting anxious," he mentioned to them. Marching straight to the door, he tilted to the side as Bulwark attempted to open its way. Those fumes... Devon would need a fair distance between him and the larger mech to prevent suffocation. Waiting for the doors to open on either his accord or another's, he pulled out a piece of amber from his pocket and swallowed it.

The Artificer, after a few long moments, looked away from the dragon and to the door it was to walk through. It took long strides towards the door, tattered robes flowing behind it, and carefully tapped the door with the blade of the phase scythe. The fact that it did tap confirmed it's suspicions. The Artificer turned back to the crude machine and the mortal, setting aside.

Upon Bulwarks tapping of the switch outside, the door opened and revealed a small corridor, well, small in length, wide in width. on each side of the corridor were two doors now, that each had a switch. One switch had the symbol of a green plus above it, the other, a red cross.

It should be obvious what was to be done here.

"Well? What are all of you? Chickens?" Red called down into the arena from his balcony view. The Red Dragon had hung his head over to watch, and his wings were open, threatening he might actually come down there. "Well, You aren't at the moment. But those memories between fighting us earlier and waking up today are a little fuzzy, aren't they?"

The Lightning Dragon showed his bloody teeth, deeply enjoying messing with the heroes.

"Here's a little hint. Green means go. Even a hatchling knows that, but you all seem to have gone a little soft in the head. You're gonna wanna push that to move on."

Devon paused momentarily for the others to respond, not wanting to provoke animosity between them. However, the Red Dragon was becoming impatient, edging them on.

Sighing, the man steeped into the chamber, pressing the green button in turn. This better not be a false door, as much the green symbol seem to indicate the reverse.
