Pax (Eight Moons)
“Every time I'm about to explain, another being has to become part of the conversation.†Sighing, Alex reached into her robe, producing a thin strip of dried meat. Tilting her head to a safe side, she causally swallowed the snack in one gulp. These constant interruptions are getting ridiculous.
“To be blunt, me and a few others opened a door to communicate with people very close to us." Said in a deadpan tone. "We've attempted to contact them for months with meager results. This portal is highly ineffective in use, given the fact that both of you are following is evidence for it. Besides, it is to the Manticore's benefit that I stay as far from that portal as possible. For a couple guardians are currently watching over it, on the off-chance someone tries to destroy either the portal or the mirror world on the other side."

"Erm, no. I haven't actually met any dragons in this world yet, the closest I came were to Wurms, Wyverns, and Drakes." She ponder for a second. "Wait, what do you mean 'lake?' Did you come from it?"
Clearly, this was no aquatic variant. So, how could this dragon not be familiar with the world of Pax?

"Who are these people, and why did you need to communicate with them bad enough it required tearing a door into alternate realities?" The Manticore said impressed. He had enough of a mind to understand most of what she had said, and was honestly eager to explore the subject more. "Who are these Guardians? What happens if the portal is attacked, and are you expecting one?"
He asked rapid fire questions while thinking. The fact that the otherwise normal woman just ate a slice of meat without chewing was pretty weird, and he definitely wanted to address that, but perhaps later.

"If a person wanted to enter a parallel universe, who would be the first person they meet?" She quizzed the Manticore. Such a streak of questions, though. Perhaps he was bidding his time, waiting until he obtained all the necessary information before executing her...
"They are associates of mine that helped me out before," her eyes sloped down to her arm. "Even though that effort only made it worse, I still aided them in the activation of this portal. " Alex loathed delving into details of that incident, she tried to divert that spectacle with a different tangent. "The two left behind are formidable protectors, possessing traits that would serious hinder any attempts by either of you to harm them. Around the circle, an immense golem lies in wait of any intruders that try to attack the the portal directly. Actually, golem is the most comparable term for it. As for when it bleeds, a golden ichor drains out from the would, scorching the earth beneath it. As for the other...."
A creepy smile crept along the crevices of her mouth, her glasgow grin petering past her cheeks. "Would be your worst nightmare: a being known for consuming the magical essences, or even souls, from rare creatures; a Blue Mage."

"Was that a hypothetical question?" The Manticore asked, not sure what it was she was aiming for. "I'd think it would be themselves. To see how other choices might have turned out."
"Is that why they wanted your help to open it? Simply to meet themselves? Seems kind of ridiculous. So why is it they are over there, and you're the one that came through? And what is that... thing we have to track, and how does it fit into this?"
The Manticore certainly didn't seem to mind asking questions.

"The goal was to leave only the golem behind and report the status of its mirror later. However, we didn't expect that beast to arrive," She responded back, unaware of her declining subtly in speech. "What a horrendous abomination! My eyes could scarcely discern hide from bone, for each salient growth bore nearly imaginable features capable any animal, any life-form. Then, from the sky, its hand rained down! Piercing the skin of the field, uprooting entire patches as it assaulted us. The inhumanity!"
Alex tumbled to the barren soil, the minor scratches already began to vanish by the red light. "Such a friend he turned out to be. Leaving me a-LONE! That old wizard had to croak in the Void, him and his stupid magic. Why. WHY!" Her deranged visage turned to face the Manticore. The madness of remembering the monster stirred a seizure of hysteria.

"You opened a portal here to drop off your garbage!? Hah. It's fitting then that our version was waiting. You got what you deserved." The Manticore said, watching the woman writhe around in a mental break. What a pathetic creature.
"You know, your world's version of things sounds... Ill equipped. Ours has clearly developed into the stronger version of history, and in that case, I believe your problem will solve itself. One of our predators will soon take care of the garbage you dropped here." The Beast moved to stand over the broken woman, tail posed. "In fact, I'm not sure we even want to be linked to your sad world, in any regard... but thank you for the information!"
He then plunged the poisonous tail blade at the crazy woman's chest.
"Sooo... I suppose the question is, do we want to simply destroy this thing, or shall we use it?" The Manticore asked the voice in his head, standing on the edge of the mirror. "Sounds like it's gonna be easy to have some fun with."

Delivered a frightful blow to the chest, Alex squirmed along the dirt, blood being coughed out from her lungs. The Manticore in curiosity loomed over the waters of the mirror lake. Instead of his own reflection, an image of a dire wolf stared back the fellow beast. Her silver coat glistening in the light reflecting around it, with a gargling noise churning behind the lake. As if the wolf itself was talking to him.
"Luk rehen'd douth."
Trunks of stone crashed besides the Manticore, fell short of squashing the creature by a few feet. Sparks skittered down the cracked rock, leading from the smiling Alex. "So *cough* that was... a few more deaths *cough* ... than I anticipated." She gasped out. "Such venom, sending *cough-cough* chillls down my spine.... Manticore, how does it feel? The insanity?" Her legs rose up, the wounds in her chest healed as the last drips of poison was expunged. Placing a hand on the pillar her end, several spears burst from the earth. Their stretched shafts aimed at the Manticore.

"Luk rehen'd douth."
What was that supposed to mean? At first, the Manticore assumed it might simply be speech backwards, translated by crossing the mirror. Unfortunately, it still didn't make any sense, even with that in mind.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak-"
The hair bristled in the monster's mane suddenly and violently. Time seemed to slow down, or at least the beast's perception of it as he filled with adrenaline. The shadows had screamed for him to watch out - MOVE! With no questions asked he lept into the air, gliding directly over the portal and curving back towards where a very dead woman should be.
"-Crazy?" He gasped. She wasn't very dead. Not even close.
The woman had a hole right through her. Yet she was standing, demented and panting, the poison pouring from her wound. "A little scary to be honest. Though I don't feel it personally. I kind of just get the vibes enough for two off you."
She had definitely just tried to kill him. The area he had been standing was now full of stone spikes, and if he hadn't been warned he would be one mythological shish kebab.
"See, that's why I don't trust you. You clearly don't tell me everything."

((At this rate we'll leave swix in the dust... time for a distraction.))
"Oi! Why are you a chivalrous kitty!? Touching a women's chest a big no-no."
The spears soon crumbled under their own weight as the dust settled along the transmuted matter. The Manticore, whilst safe in the air for the time being, might have noticed the scarlet light brooding out from her eye sockets. Such power. Alex's body trembled at the revolting rebound of the hasty use of her alchemy. She herself not adjusted to this new body she woke up from her dreams... "So, big ol' lion. Have you ever lied to an alchemist before? As today will be your last-!"
Collapsing on her knees, the women quavered profoundly. Alex braced head up as she shrieked at the sky. Ghastly tendrils sprouted forth from her back, spattering ooze across the way as limbs sharpened from the chaos. The limbs staggered near the Basilisk. Bemoaning wails polluted the air around the things, faces and bodies parted from the shriveling threads to her.

The Basilisk would have definitely tried to help the woman had her wayward friend not been so close that she couldn't snap her tail over him quick enough to pull it away before he stung her "You didn't have to do that! She was cooperating with you!" she yelled, before some strange other voice talked and then there were massive vibrations from the ground around her as something hit her metallic scales and bounced off her coils with a clang. What the hell was going on? The giant snake had to see, she had to open her eyes and did, revealing them to be bright red and glowing with deadly arcane magic as she stared at the wall of ghostly figures "What is going on?!"

"Please, help us!"
"It hurts!."
"Stop it, stop it, STOP IT!"
Mangled men and women blenched about as their bodies shambled over the Basilisk. The humanoids wailed in agony, tormented in a cursed states, begging the serpent for salvation. Alex struggled to remain off the ground. Tears drenched her face, teeth clenched to near cracking, she braced herself to boulder near by.
"So. Much. Screaming..." she blurted out.

"She is clearly insane. I'm just really good at picking up on things like that." The Manticore explained, soaring over the chaos below.
"That's alchemy? Where's all the lead into gold? I'm not sure you're doing it right."
This was problematic. Alex seemed to be summoning... other bodies from herself, though why they were in such pain was beyond him. They seemed to be acting independently of the woman, which means they had to have come from somewhere.
"Seems you have more than one mind in there lady. How'd that happen?"
The Basilisk was apparently their target, and that was just fine with the other mythological beast. She could hold her own.
"Hey! Get those eyes open and start turning them to stone-! Oh. You're already on it. Well... thanks. Now Lady, think you can cut that out? What happened to the calm cool woman I was talking to earlier?"

"I... I don't know how!" The Basilisk said, looking from one ghost to the next to the next to the next "How do I help you?!" the giant mythological snake then looked to the portal, and up to the Manticore flying around above them. She pulled her head back, apparently considering something, then headed fro the Mirror Portal.
"That does it!" she yelled, apparently, something had snapped inside her "the valiant on this side have fallen! There's no help here. I'm going to find some help from that side!"
She stopped, just before going through, and called back to the Manticore "I'm going to get help, CP! Maybe the Swix on that side had better luck than I did. I'll see you when you're finished here! Maybe..." she went through...

Pax (Eight Moons)
Stone statues littered around the Basilisk. In distraught, her massive bulk shattered the people as she delve into the mirror portal. By the boulder, Alex shouted at the Manticore. "Then *huff-huff-huff* you owe me some... information then..." Bent out of shape, Alex transmuted a cane crutch to perch herself up. "

In the alternate world, the fragrant petrichor enveloped the flowery fields. Apparently barren, she might have thought no one was actually on this side waiting for Alex. Was this a trap? There, a subtle movement at the shore! Stone arms ascended out from the sand, each of the five limps encircling the lake in conjunction of one another. "Who? Who. Came. From. Lake?" Inquired a booming voice of the earth.

"I did" answered the massive snake when she hit the other side "My name is Swix and I am... I was a healer, unwillingly transformed into this Basilisk body. Who... are you?"
