With a wet slurping sound, two squares that seem to have become isolated by Swix's newest torch, (H6, I7), tear off and fall into the abyss, turning into smoke just before leaving your sight.

Swix sailed over one hole to land with one behind her and one in front of her, on E9 this time. She turned back towards the demoness "Why thank you Raven, I do try"

Raven hopped down to H0. 'Almost there.' She thought smugly.

Raven hauled herself up off the goo and grabbed a torch.

((I thought you already had a torch Raven? O_o))

Swix frowned, then bounced from her position on E9, over the hole in E10, and up onto the cavern wall to replace the torch she'd used already

(( I thought I did too, but I wasn't sure. Figured it'd be better to grab one when I might already have one than try and plant on when I didn't. ))

As Raven tried to grab the torch she stumbled trying to pull away. 'What the...' It seemed she couldn't hold two torches. Oh well.

Swix jumps onto tile N0, carrying the newly retrieved torch.

Raven grinned - just what she'd been waiting for. She ran along the edge, hopped down to N0, planted a torch and was away to N8. "Sorry darling." She grinned as the ground below Swix ignited.

Swix fell.

The woman in the black dress with the white trim just managed a slight bow to the demoness with respect for Raven and the burning rage for anyone who'd take her out shining through her eyes before the gel incinerated beneath her and sent her plunging down. The gap was too far apart for a grab with her extra limbs to save her,so she fell.

She didn't scream, she didn't really see the point of that.

She fell some more, and saw the broken torch on the rocks. She frowned, if it wasn't bad enough that she was sure of where she'd end up, then a broken body that resembled that would likely make it worse. What a comforting thought that was.

She fell some more, watching the rock wall illuminated by the torch she was still clinging on to rush upwards. Was this going to hurt? Were there going to be spikes or something similar at the bottom? Did this place even have a bottom?

She fell some more, and saw the ledge with the intact torch go flying upwards. She also saw the gouge left by some what looked like really powerful creature. Oh gods, was there a monster down here? Or was it perhaps a previous contestants desperate attempt to stop? She certainly wasn't going to attempt to grab the ledge even with her tendrils, they'd get ripped straight out of her back and then she'd be falling and in pain. She really didn't fancy that.

She fell some more.

Oddly, she started wondering about three things at this point. Would The EC, those who had managed to make it to Pax, know what had happened to them? What if Raven came across something that took her out later in the contest, what would happen then?

Then there was the Collector, of course... but then, it was probably best not to think of the entity right now.

Then there was CP... was that light... from beneath her?

Swix looked down to see what looked like a raging inferno beneath her.

'Oh, brilliant', she thought, as she plunged down into the cool gel then struggled back to the surface, confused and relieved.

A loud "gloop" stirred the Artificer.

At some point the Artificers tempus tracker had desychronised, leaving the machine unable to tell how long had actually passed. Time was nothing to it, millennia could have passed and it wouldn't have noticed. At this point it had lost track and interest in any others around it, content in just floating in the goo and planning. Calculations at this point indicated that climbing was probably the only way out. It would be slow, and falling was likely, but eventually the Artificer would be free.
But then the gloop happened. Looking to the source of the gloop, the Artificer found Swix floating in it. The machine almost groaned, as much as a machine can groan, but continued to float there itself.

"It would seem you have fallen victim to the other mortal." Remarked the Artificer. "That will suffice for now."

It considered the woman for a moment.

"Competition is no longer a factor, I instead suggest an alliance to retrieve the artifact."
