I found an interesting link earlier which does a good job of examining what the stigma is where teenagers and adults are involved, the feelings involved with it, the facts of why and finally, why you shouldn't be ashamed of it no matter what your age. It's a pretty well thought out article I thought, and answered quite a few questions I had about why I still like the series despite it's shortcomings XD.
I'm also typing on my phone, sorry for any abruptness.
Here's the
link
It's worth a look ^_^

One word: Nostaliga. I'm not really into Pokemon anymore but dang it there are only 151!
Well, the second generation is still cool too.

I've never really found any shame in liking Pokemon. Because it is awesome.

Good to hear Tav, and Borg, I still remember my original team
, the nostalgia thing is definitely one of the reasons for Pokemon for me. But I also got the games right up until Platinum XD. Just not the newest ones...

I find
this comic to be a more concise explanation. Haven't played the newest version either, mostly due to spending more time on the computer and being more interested in games where you build things and puzzle games.

lolol MDude that's interesting, and kinda true-I guess (I say this because Pokemon didn't come out until I was in Secondary School/Highschool anyway, so everyone who got into it got into it then, including one of my best friends), but whoever did that missed out the after college bit
. Which is where you get the 'polite but puzzled' looks and/or the arguments over why it's not so good. Such as the battle system being turn-based. Or the drive to sell two different types of game which are basically the same-though they've fixed that since Silver/Gold. Or encouraging the need to collect everything.
Now I have counter-arguments ^_^

House made a Pokemon reference today.
And a darn good one at that.
It made my week.

And now, thanks to collective nerdom,
It's Here.
If you didn't get it, (which is actually why it's awesome, it's not a common reference at all!), I'm afraid you'll simply have to "Look it up."

I'm disappointed, but only because I'm an old grouch who won't accept anything after Gold and Silver, and even then... XD
Still awesome though.

Damn, I gotta remember to check this when I'm not on my phone so I can see what the reference was XD.
And personally I'll always have a soft spot for the original Blue version.
