Calling you Pokemon Trainers!

Ok, so here's the thing. My friend from work who is a MASSIVE Pokemon fan, and I mean to the point of near obsessiveness, wants to battle me. He told me about a strategy he'd used with Butterfree using Stat boost, that item that leaves 1 health instead of a kill, Rest and then Bug Buzz to wipe out a whole team.

So as you can imagine I am a bit nervous, especially as I haven't battled anyone since the very first UK Pokemon League.

So, um, does anyone have any pointers or ideas or know a way for me to improve my team as it is now? It would be much appreciated! :D

We'll both be using the Pearl/Platinum versions.

My Team is:

Torterra (Female, nickname: Twiggy)

Moves:
Frenzy Plant
Rock Tomb
Rock Smash
Rock Climb

Special Ability:
Overgrow

Holding:
Miracle Seed

Crobat (Male, nickname: Loki)

Moves:
Dark Pulse
Fly
Defog
Poison Fang

Special Ability:
Inner Focus

Holding:
Poison Barb

Rapidash (Female, nickname: Jewel)

Moves:
Flare Blitz
Fire Blast
Bounce
Strength

Special Ability:
Run Away

Holding:
Wise Glasses

Floatzel (Male, nickname: Miles)

Moves:
Dig
Ice Beam
Waterfall
Surf

Special Ability:
Swift Swim

Holding:
Sea Incense

Weavile (Male, nickname: Slicer)

Moves:
Aerial Ace
Metal Claw
Cut
Blizzard

Special Ability:
Pressure

Holding:
NeverMeltIce

Raichu (Female, nickname: Miracle)

Moves:
Thunderbolt
Focus Blast
Iron Tail
Thunder

Special Ability:
Static

Holding:
Magnet

One more thing. He said Raichu sucks. The reason I won three out of four of my winning League battles was because of my original Raichu (I got knocked out in the fifth round before I would've gotten a chance to challenge the Nintendo champion there. It was fun though! :D)

So if there's one thing I'd like to do, it's to take down at least one, if not more, of his Pokemon with my Raichu :@

Of course, I can't really tell you much without knowing his team, but a awesome strategy I've always used is to have your lead Pokemon know a complete array of type effective moves. For example, My Porygon Knows Blizzard, Thunder, Shadow Ball and Recover.

I send him out first, and since I have an advantage against nearly every Pokemon with the move coverage, I can usually sweep about 4 members of the average team before they even land one hit on my lead.

Like with the Butterfree, I could hit that with Thunder or Blizzard and boom, dead, onto the next one.

Have fun!

Well, yeah XD. The only one I know is in his team is Heatran, other than that, I have no idea.

Hmm, interesting. Nice Strategy CP! Thanks for the advice :D.

And I'm sure I will have fun! I'll let ya know how it goes ^_^

Well, the battles off for now. But not forever.

A bit of extra time to prepare is fine by me ;). Though I have made some slight changes to the moves list.

Hahah, I'd help but I think you're safe in CP's hands. His Porygon thrashed me!

Is it considered bad form to beat the opponent to death with their DS? You'd win then.

What? Maybe not morally, but LITERALLY you would! :P

Hey you guys, fight it off in an RP :P

I've made some changes to their Moves. The only one I'm worried about now is the Rapidash, she needs omething damaging for Water and Rock types.

Oh, and the battle commences tonight! I've suddenly gone from nervous to excited.

I lost, but apart from Heatran it was pretty even. He had two left at the end.

But I did prove my point, Weavile, Rapidash and Raichu all lasted the longest out of my six.

That battle lasted for half an hour too!

I lost, but I am pleased. That was fun. The banter was great fun too!
