Can I get an explanation of what just happened?

Short Version: Claymolder made a stygian agreement with Kheesth to free and return the villagers back to the Encampment. In exchange, he must teach his knowledge of claycraft and relinquish some of his own automatons as she sees fit.

The exact amount of deviation is to be known later on, but deals like this allows him to further augment physical, mental, and spiritual modifications depending on what he does.
