Fair's fair at The Fayre!
It was a warm, bright day at The Encampment on Ana. Birds and other creatures in the trees sang, and the residents that dwelt within the first built settlement in Pax went about their business. Today was an ordinary day. In fact, the padt few months the days had been so ordinary and as peaceful as they could possibly get here that the entire town had come together to celebrate, and this time were not afraid of it going wrong.
Today the people had come together and arranged a Fayre, with stalls full to the brim of food, drink, games, entertainments or selling various trinkets. It was a colourful, merry affair-there was even a band in the centre, playing music for all to enjoy.
This time, the Encampment had come together to celebrate life and peace, something that they hadn't gotten a large break from until recently. The Fayre was open to all!

Tom hobbled along on his cane. It had been several months since he had woken up at the Temple without a leg, and he was still trying to learn to get around on the Prothetic. It had been a very fine leg, fully articulated as his own would have been, and been assembled carefully by Grathon and Eltra working together. It had it's limits, and required recharging about once a day, but it worked, and that's what mattered. Eltra had offered to make him some full body armor made of the same construction, but something about the idea of being fully cyborg bothered Tom, so he declined.
He grumbled to himself as he watched the guards look over everything. He should have had a hand in coordinating security, but everyone still considered him recovering, and wouldn't hear of it. Considering that, he had thought about having a lie in, but both Jinx and Abi - on two separate occasions - and forced out a promise from him that he'd try to enjoy himself out here. So here he was.
That wasn't to say he wasn't armed - he had the bead around his wrist that could be summoned into an egg weapon at a thought. He had also wanted to bring his pistols, but figured the guards would have a problem with that. But so many years in Pax had told him not to ever let his guard completely down.
He looked around the scene. Grog was over near a strength tester - the kind you used to see at Fairs on Earth, with the lever you hit with a hammer, a weight, and a bell. The person at the stall was arguing with the Barbarian, who seemed to want to prove he was the strongest, and the Fair worker not wanting his booth destroyed. To be fair, Tom was impressed the man was able to assemble it so fast, so he could hardly blame the man. But poor Grog just wasn't understanding.
Tom continued to scan, trying to find someone he knew he could strike up a conversation with.

Fair's fair at The Fayre!
While the fair had its fair share of mortals and relatively normal people, there was one thing that the fateburns knew better than anybody: Enjoy time of peace. As much trouble the family had caused when they first arrived, now they were more used to it, and Renesa took the lead and together with the rest decided to make a surprise.
Liara's magic school, which was built on the outskirts of the encampment, seemed to glow for a moment, and soon, the celling disappeared, as well as the walls surrounding it being lowered onto the ground. The gates, which stood even with all the shifting, opened to enable anybody to visit it.
Inside of the academy's territory, there was a few dozens of stalls, each with a different function:
The elemental's maid cafe, Yara's idea, which had herself, Anthea the aulraune, and Yuru, a slime-like girl who slept in the pond behind the temple of insanity, as well as Yara herself serving all visitors with simple food, such as cookies. Yara, while served the role of the cheerful maid very well, Yuru had the opposite behavior, constantly glaring at any visitor, causing Yara herself to look even more cheerful in comparison. Anthea was meanwhile dealing with the vegetables and cooking, and occasionally, used her vines to deliver food to nearby tables.
Liara meanwhile, together with Elena and Cindra, ran three stalls, one next to other: Cindra was selling good luck charms, Elena herself was selling artefacts with silly effects, such as a hairband that changed the wearer's hair color to match it. Liara meanwhile was literally donating books of magic, written by herself. Nothing advanced but enough for those willing to get started on that path.
Arisu, unsurprisingly, had opened a horror house. Surprisingly, Suzan, a person who caused a lot of chaos in Pax, was working together with Arisu to scare anybody who entered inside of that attraction, both using a combination of shadow magic as well as illusion magic. Thankfully there was plenty of warnings before anybody entered inside.
Ayara was working on cosmetics, using shapeshifting magic to help people to change according to their descriptions: Of course, nothing permanent, the 'shapeshifting' spells disappearing by the end of the night, accepting any sort of transformation, be it dragon, naga, centaur or whatever. Saphira, the ex-dragon-knight crystal naga, slept besides Ayara.
Inas and Nysa did something that might be a little eccentric of them: The angel-demon duo were dealing with fortune-telling in another stall, and considering their magic, it wasn't hard for them to succeed on such predictions. Of course, most, if not all of such predictions was just Inas spouting generic bullshit.
Lastly, at the end of the academy there was a circus tent, for Liara's undead to put up a show for the audience. While they were scary, most of the skeletons and other undead were friendly. The lower-ranked ones couldn't even talk but those who were higher-ranked, such as the butler which normally guarded the front gates, or the hard-hat skeleton which helped on the building's construction, were a lot more talkative.

As soon as Lucca noticed that an event was going on in the Encampment, they were almost immediately drawn to it. In fact, they seemed to have dropped whatever they were immediately doing just to be able to show up, as evident by the splotch of dirt on their pant legs and on the front of their overalls. They didn't really seem to understand the significance behind the Fayre, the need to finally be able to celebrate the peace after the chaos that had occurred months prior. They were oblivious to most of what had happened. But with all the stalls set up for the purpose of selling food and drinks and games for them to play and things for them to buy... They absolutely loved the Fayre.
In fact, they loved it so much that they spent a majority of their money in an effort to win a crane game. And so nearly broke, Lucca ended up happily trying to lug around a giant, plush bunny, dragging it along the grass.

The fatal mistake they had made was not accounting for the sheer quantity of alcohol that would start being passed around. Where, one might ask, was quickly answered. The oni siblings were letting it flow freely, both for better party and an advertisement for Dreams of a Former Hell. Zantetsu was chatting up anyone who came by, wearing a full suit today. While he disliked wearing so much, there was no denying he cleaned up nicely. He still looked strong enough to crack skulls, but in full business professional, he looked pretty approachable. Yuki was, meanwhile, picking fights with absolutely everyone who'd spar with her. She had a ring built and was lightly dressed, wrestling with people in an odd game of ringing out people. There were a couple others nearby, and Inabi was alternating between teaching and serving booze to people.
The Flower Master herself was on a stage, singing in her native language and providing a strange energetic and poppy energy, despite a feeling the lyrics were quite dark. She was dressed as normal and really cutting loose around everyone.
The magician was offering magical tricks and toys, as well as potions for self defense. Mostly, though, she was just resting and trying to nap.
Zerexe was hanging around Grog, trying to get to play the strength game herself and similarly being denied. It had nothing to do with her carrying a cart over her head with one hand. Nah. She had been destroying every game she got to, sometimes literally, and collecting their prizes in this cart. She needed a lot of toys for her kids, since they broke so many.
Zaphy was asleep on a statue, passing off as part of it since she couldn't be bothered to wake. Meanwhile, the younger woman Beryl was obsessively taking anything magical she could get her hands on and wrestling with people in the onis' areas. For being 14, that girl could fight.

My life is just a long series of "it seemed like a good idea at the time" strung together.

There was another person here, though naturally she wasn't someone whom had made any of the stalls. Abi was wandering around too, browsing what was on offer and what was going on. The oriental woman had an expression on her face that wasn't often seen. One might even suspect Abi was enjoying herself for a change. Currently, she was in front of a milk toss competition, watching what other people were doing.
Russel too, had shown up and could be seen in his sandy coloured cloak wandering around. The man seemed to be trying not to etch worry across his face as he strolled through, looking at everything that had been set up. The black bandaged arm that had replaced his missing one was rather prevalent, contrasting with his attire and yet complimenting his now ashen hair and red eyes. Russel looked odd, yet, he seemed happier than before despite the worry.
Savannah had set up her own stall-though the resident dinosaur tamer wasn't selling her pets but rather showing them off. Behind the stall was a large ring, and outside of them were pens for the animals. Pachy, Parasaur, Raptor, and Carno rides were advertised as well as Pteranodon Flights and extra special rides that required them to leave the Encampment. Savannah had brought her blood red Rex Bloodmoon out with her, making her area stand out-but she knew she couldn't trust her white Giga in this kind of crowd-That was the special order. There was also a small petting pen for people to meet the Hyaenodons, Dimorphodons and the Dilophosaurs. Savannah kept a close eye on them all. She also had quite a large queue.
Perhaps most surprisingly the retired ex-Knight of Insanity Swix had shown up. She had a stall set up for trick cakes. They'd metamorphose whoever ate them into random things-but would wear off very shortly. She absolutely couldn't help herself when given the opportunity to put spells into her baking.
If nothing else, the Fair was full of many of Anas characters doing various things. A new person to Pax wandered through. She was wearing furs remiscent of ancient Viking times-and carried an axe on her back that seemed to be enchanted-however it seemed to be mostly hidden under a round shield. . She was also accompanied by a large blue and purple Dragon of the wyvern style and spoke Common haltingly. She wasn't the only person there with a Dragon companion though-Iona and Fangflare the Monstrous Nightmare strolled through together with Jinx and her Dragon Bill. They seemed to have made good friends with each other and were happily chatting away.

Accompanying the Split, another form Knight of Insanity and her spouse sat right by. The Jentil figured he might as well bring along his own addition for the baked treats. In several baskets, an assortment of colored spheres laid within them. Fruits, mature beverage flavors, and a few others filled the edible orbs. He might not be the best Distortionists in the Encampment, though a simple trick of carrying single serving drinks were rather easy to concoct.
Elsewhere, a curious tinkering 'girl' set up her own booth for Fayre. The Dollamancer devised a multitude of gadgets and tiny golems, with the only one not for sale being her tiny elephant 'Little Hans.' She figured yo-yos, packages of balloons, and something called 'fidget spinners' that Tinka learned of recently would entertain kids and adults alike.
"Huh... Must be quintuplets," Aaron muttered to himself as he looked over at the Flower Master's stage. At least five woman helping Yuuga out around, or even joining along with her songs, wandered about wearing the same style of clothes as the Youkai. "... Not what I'm looking..."
Shrugging, the Demi-Jinn strolled off to randomly visit the different stalls. He spent some coin, played a few games, though Aaron's main objective was passing out fliers for an upcoming event. Are you wanting a challenge? To know who really is the strongest among your peers? Come check out the Sableye's booth during Fayre for more information! ... Note; mortals only. Deities and spirits not eligible to participate.

Walking at a leisurely pace towards the Encampment, a mature woman whom this day elected to don upon her body a blue shirt combined with black pants halted her pace in favour of observing the spectacle ahead. Piercingly deep blue eyes took in the celebration at hand as an inquisitively sharp mind paid attention to minute details. A true expulsion of spontaneous joy at the longest enduring peace was most certainly a marvel to behold.
Laur smoothed her expression down to one of mild curiosity precluding a first uncertain step towards this Fair, once began they proceeded to become more confident, even and spaced.
Upon attempted entrance she was accosted by unfamiliar guards and most perturbed by their reluctance to allow her to proceed with her beloved handgun upon her person. The once-reluctant mutant elected to reluctantly leave the arms behind under the protectors scrutiny, though her secondary weapon she would not part with and remained hidden from their clouded sight.
Brimming with a curiosity she refused to let show within her collective expression, Laur entered the Fair

CP landed on Swix's head, looking down at her stall of cupcakes. They smelt... magical. Luckily he knew better than to trust her baking.
"Hello Miss Swix..." He eyed the trays. "You must have been busy. Looks like you've made a couple hundred of these snacks... All completely normal cupcakes, right?"

Swix sighed loudly when CP jumped on her head. "Get. Off" she said her customary greeting-although she didn't expect him to jump off anytime soon. "I swear you're getting heavier...". That quip out of the way, the Split looked over at her cakes all set out on trays with little sugar paper pictures on the top. "No CP, of course they're not normal. Why'd you think I called this booth 'Trick Cakes?' Besides it's not like I'm gonna sell them to people without them knowing what they're buying and the enchantments are completely harmless"
The Split hadn't noticed Tom walk up during her explanation and turned to greet him with a smile when she heard the familiar voice, however it faltered once she saw the fact he was walking with the help of a crutch. "Hello Tom, we came over when we heard there was a celebration of peace here. It's not often it happens here for that long right? We couldn't miss it. Jinx is doing great, she can walk and talk now... though she does worry us at times..." She trailed off and awkwardly scratched at the back of her neck. "She's with my parents right now, actually... I see the world finally got the better of you, though" She finally pointed out the crutch "What happened? How have you been doing?"

Tom sighed to buy himself time. He didn't want to admit he let Jinx the elder on such a dangerous mission that hurt him so, or that she was with him when he was hurt. Although, "Let" was far from the word he would have used. "Couldn't stop" was probably more accurate, but Swix probably still be angry at him regardless. So...he only told a half-lie.
"Yeah, had a dangerous mission a bit back on Kata to deal with a rogue demi-god. Turns out being a normal human in a blast is not an advantageous position....and came back with less of me than I left with. Got a decent replacement that Eltra and Grathon made up for me...but I'm still getting used to using it, hence the crutch"

Jent listened to the trio chatter about, working with the customers asking for drinks and snacks at the dual stall. It felt nice to see familiar faces around. Even if one of them had difficulty walking due to a 'demigod on Kata.' "... Was it about Skathi?" the Distortionist piped, selling a bag of fruit cocktail orbs to a Fayre-goer.

"Well... to be fair not many creatures that get caught in a blast come out of it looking great" Swix said, after watching the soldier answer carefully. The Split clapped her hands and stood up all of a sudden. "Actually I'm glad you two showed up, I made something special for you" She then proceeded to rummage around under the booth before picking out two items and putting them on the table.
There were two cupcakes there-both of them had icing on the top, but one of them had a figure of Swix and Coolpikaaa with Swix having the four black tendrils coming out of her back and the figure of Coolpikaaa about to leap over a sweeping tendril.
The other showed a giant golden serpent like creature rearing over the figure of Tom, who was pointing a gun at the monster with the Split with Shadow Wings out and an arm inside the beasts mouth.
As they looked at the two figures they'd see that they were actually very slowly moving in their particular directions, before they 'reset' and then repeated.
"I'm not very good at animation magic" Swix deprecated her work before looking at them both. "It's the scenarios of when we first met. Oh and don't worry, apart from the animation these aren't enchanted"

CP gasped, leaping off Swix's head onto the stall so he could crouch down low and see her figures. It was a perfect likeness of how evil she was! Well... err... back in the day. Not currently! This was a very heartfelt gift that he would keep forever.
"Aww Swix! It's perfect! This is the coolest thing ever!" He took the tiny figure locked in battle off the icing they were standing in. He figured they didn't want to be drowning in whipped sugar all the time. He was ecstaticly happy. Swix would see easily that this meant a lot to him.
"I wosh I goff you a giff..." The electric mouse told her, feeling guilty. But not guiltt enough not to stuff his mouth full of the cupcake the two figurines had been fighting on.
