UK Riots
I rather suspect this is only gonna effect me and Swix to a degree but have any of you heard about this? I've only just found out and it's been going on for three days! It all kicked off when a copper shot someone. The people around attacked them and it all started there. We don't even know if the shooting was justified.

UK Riots
I read about that last night. So it's stil going on? :S
The report said that the police stopped the guy in a taxi and then shot him, and like Borg said noone knows if it was justified. It said that it started out as a peaceful protest to try and get them to say exactly what happened with the guy, but then someone threw missiles at two police cars, then one of the cars got dragged into the middle of the street and set fire to, and it just all went downhill from there. Looters just took advantage of the unrest.
I must admit to being a little scared. I live in Nottingham which in the grand scheme of things isn't all that far from London, and though not as big is still a relatively large city. What if something like that happens here? It really isn't that hard to see the tensions running underneath the surface around here.
Borg, you're not too close to London are you?

I'm miles away in the arse end of nowhere, so don't worry about me. I've only just heard about this, but it's been going on for three days now. I am moving to Milton Keynes next week, but I doubt that this'll last that long, and if it does I can't see it happening there. I hope.

Heh, well, that's good then, hopefully it won't get to you. Moving's always a mess of organised chaos as it is XD.
Unfortunately it seems some opportunists up here have decided to try their hands at smashing and grabbing in the city centre tonight. So my friend who lives there tells me. Hopefully that won't catch on any more than that.
EDIT: Grr, damn typos

UK Riots
Uh, Borg, there's a group on FB called 'UK Collapse' with people putting up what's been going on, and one of the posts about ten minutes ago there was this, it seems even Milton Keynes isn't safe :S:
Thames
Valley Police has made
four arrests as several
shop windows have been
smashed by the gang who
are armed with bricks,
bottles and baseball bats.
The trouble started at
Coral bookmakers in
Queensway, Bletchley at
8pm.
One police officer said:
“There were 70 of them,
they were armed with
bricks, bottles and sticks.
They were smashing car
windows, hitting
everything.â€Â
There were reports earlier
in the evening of minor
disturbances at potential
troublespots including
Beanhill and Netherfield.
But by 9.30pm the fear of
further disorder was still
concentrated in central
Bletchley, where around 20
police officers were on
guard at the railway
station.
As for here in Nottingham, people are starting rioting/
looting in the city centre
AGAIN tonight, apparently Canning Circus Police Station's been firebombed. Also
something happened in
Bulwell marketplaceearlier
today that caused all the
shops to put their shutters
down. Luckily we got there just after that.

I hope your Uncle is okay Borg .
Tav, is your friend in Leeds okay too? There isn't anything going on there is there?
My partner had to go through Bulwell today to go and feed his sister's dog, who's away til Saturday, and he tells me he passed two burnt out cars, one with the charred skeleton of a large dog in the back .
I've just had to go through the City Centre to get to work, and there's at least five shops with their shutters down. Debenhams, though open, has great big boards over where the majority of where their windows should be. They probably had their windows smashed last night.

Leeds is okay, but another friend who lives in Dudley says that pretty much every shop has been damaged.
Also, riots are stupid. If any of the rioters actually stopped and thought about what they were doing, they wouldn't be rioting.

I don't think a lot of them even know why they're rioting, never mind being able to stop and think about it. Sorry to hear about your friend in Dudley Tav.
I had to walk through the city centre on my way back home from work, and it was very, very quiet. Even the bouncers from the pubs and clubs were inside them rather than outside the doors. There was virtually noone around. Other than people being conspicuous by their absence, the only thing that was noteworthy were a few cars that were driving around insanely, plus the one that was driving around insanely near where I live. Maybe it's calmed down a bit tonight. Maybe.

What a shame that so many people continue rioting to the point where they forget the original purpose and amass more to the frenzy of chaos. I hope all UK Pax members, their family, and their friends don't suffer from the hands of these idiots. In addition to those have already been tormented or yet to be from these selfish people, luckily the wave of destruction will soon be smothered out if the law enforcement step up with something more efficient.
