The World is Covered in Black Paint

((Sorry but I couldn't resist! ;)))

In The Encampment, the settlement that had multispecial origin, there had suddenly appeared what looked to be... well, a wall with luxurious red fabric wrapped around it. Well, it could be a wall, it was certainly tall enough at two storeys high, and almost as wide as the base of a standard house to be a wall, as well as the edges being at least as thick as a brick but... who would possibly have any interest in building a wall in the centre of this place, and then leave it there? And what was with the fabric?

The object has attracted the interest of a lot of the townsfolk by now, who mill around it curious but wary. When a kid steps close enough to touch the fabric, a length of rope falls down to hand height apparently from out of nowhere... and a silky smooth female dragons voice echoes across the entire settlement:
"The World is Covered in Black Paint, a gift of art from me to you. There is much more here than meets the eye. I do hope it provides you as much of a challenge as it did me"
The dragons voice is not any voice heard by any who live here before, and whatever is behind the curtain seems to pulse with arcane energy, to those sensitive enough to feel it.

((Don't worry about being overly descriptive or anything. Just so long as we know what you're doing :)))

"So this be the strange sight that the Encampment was chattering about?"

"Yes, my dear."

Among the townsfolk stood a couple that stood unfazed by the wall's arcane aura. Were they experienced to such phenomena, or naive to the concept of magic within a rather mystical realm? Regardless, the woman, who was likely ignored earlier due to a radiance of the of the curtained wall. Attracted her own wandering eyes from a rather risque garb, with more than needed eyes staring were they shouldn't be. Yet, that was the most one desperate man normally could muster. For her 'boyfriend' seemed to radiate an aura only surmounted currently by the immense wall ahead. His crisp blue eyes quickly sundered any potential chances of chatting with his date.

((Thought I could I add my cents to this attraction. Will post their profiles to the cabinet soon enough.))

((Sure Jent, the more the merrier ;)))

Whilst the two magical beings in the midst of the crowd stand there and stare at the object, so does everybody else, often quickly turning back to look at it after staring at the ill clad girl. But nothing happens, clearly standing there and staring at it isn't going to reveal what it is any faster.

Eventually, a reptilian in the crowd steps forwards, since he's had enough with all this waiting. "Doing nothing isn't helping us figure out what it is!" he snarls in frustration as he walks, and pulls the cord that had fallen down near the kid earlier. The rope had clearly been designed to be pulled, as the luxurious red fabric falls off the wall easily to reveal that it isn't a wall at all. Well, of course it isn't. Who'd build a wall and call it art? That's just silly.

As the fabric falls it reveals that the wall is, in fact, a giant canvas painting with a thick, mahogany frame that sported a carved vine design around the edges. The painting itself is of a landscape that does not exist on Ana but seems to take inspiration from certain areas. The sky in the picture shows dusk falling as the sun goes down behind a black mountain off in the distance, and the majority of the picture is taken up by that of a forest with stylised dark streaks painted through trunks and leaves. At the very bottom, and closest as far as perspective is concerned there is a wooden bridge that crosses over a deep river to the path that leads through the forest. Next to the bridge is a purple fishes tail sticking up out of the water, with scales that sport a clear spiral pattern on eabh.

It is beautiful, in an abstract sort of way, and it sends gasps through the crowd at that along with it's sheer size.

There's also a plaque set in the bottom of the frame, with tiny but stylish writing engraved on it... and the two magical beings would barely be able to see what it says from where they were standing away from the object.

They'd also feel a slight tug on their desires, a desire to more closely examine this piece of art. Why wouldn't they? It is, after, all, a gift.

((Yes, yes, I know, I'm doubleposting in my own thread. I guess because I don't want anyone to think I've forgotten it ;)))

The pull to get closer becomes stronger and as people approach seems to grow exponentially. Close to the picture you can make out the words on the plaque at the bottom:

'Only by going forwards will you end up bck where you started' and underneath this

'One who came from here is hidden on the other side'

At that close, you'll be able to hear a beautiful, giggling voice that makes you want to touch the picture. At that close, you even think y6u can see the water in the river moving, the forest area gain glowing pairs of red dots, the ruined castle is covered in cobwebs and the mountain seems to shift like a living thing. Then as soon as you start to examine the painting all that stops.

ONe of the crowd reaches towards the painting bnd touches it, where upon the inanimate object seems to melt around his inquisitive hand and then inexorably pulled him into it, until there was just the painting stood there and no sign of the townsman.

Now what are you going to do?

{{This RP was privately concluded}}

The painting stood alone, untouched for a while since those in the settlement were too nervous or intimidated to touch it, which was probably the smart thing to do.

After standing there for so long, plus one incident of a new inhabitant going missing, the painting suddenly spat out four beings in the dark of the night, whilst some old crone watched and shook with laughter whilst hunched beneath a heavy grey cloak.

The first to be spat out was a human girl of later teenage years, with bright blonde hair that possessed a pink streak and deep blue eyes. She wore denim jeans, a denim jacket, a pale pink v-necked t-shirt and a pair of grubby black walking boots. The next was a creature that looked much like a large, white snake with beautiful white, faathered wings that was unconscious. Another was, well, quite demonic, as it appeared to be a bipedal birdlike creature with black bats wings, light indigo scales and double bent legs with birdlike talons on b6th hands and feet. it had a long beak and a scaly crest atop it's head, with the only sign of feathers being the white ones on it's head and the mane that ringed it's neck. It too was unconscious, and slumped on top of it's serpentine colleague.

The girl got up to tend to the two and was promptly smacked on top of the head by a white, dual screened computer device that she promptly used to make the two unconscious beings sink through a dark red portal in the ground.

Then the painting spit something else out.

A brown striped, black ear tipped, yellow mouse with red circles on each of it's cheeks.

That's right.

The painting had contained Coolpikaaa, one of Anas most famous resident heroes, and now he was back out of it.

The still conscious human and pikachu also looked... well... soggy. The cloaked crone, finding this all too much, had moved off shaking with hilarity.

The girl, later to be known as Alicia the Devil Tamer, moved off towards the inn to try and get herself cleaned up.

And CP? Well, he'd vowed to do something with the painting, with all it's twisted, evil, brainwashed inhabitants that were made of paint but nonetheless alive. What though, can only be answered by the little hero himself.

((This RP is finished :P))
