Maelstrom: Aftermath
Sometimes things happen that can have such an impact you never forget it. And sometimes you totally miss out on those things because someone else decided they knew better than to let you go. Abi found herself in the latter situation right now, the mortalised Alignment paced back and forth in her 'room' in Grathons room beneath the Temple of Insanity.
She had *wanted* to go.
She had *wanted* to help.
Both of these feelings were new and unfamiliar, yet she'd found herself unable to act on them as upon her declaration that she was going to go help the group with Skathi she'd been knocked out and had woken up in here. No way out. Not that it wasn't pleasant, she just happened to want out the most. So Abi paced back and forth, back and forth, back and forth, for hours. Not quite as frequently as she was doing this however she flung a question at the wall, usually "Are they back yet?" To be answered no.
Abi stopped pacing for the hundredth and something time before flinging another question at the 'walls'.

Maelstrom: Aftermath
"Now they are."
Answering the frustrated woman, Grathon emerged from one of the walls, head tilted to the side. "Phoebe just arrived right outside the barrier limit," he explained in a composed manner, though the immortal's gesture said otherwise in his heated walk out of the room.
"Tom and Solveig need medical assistance."
<hr />
Deposited along the grassy earth, these exhausted combatants required proper care. Some more than others. "Solveig!" one of the Flame Guard triad cried, rushing down the Temple steps. Between the wounded, Tom received the most urgent care with two huldre sharing their energies with the man. Mending sealing open wounds, stabilizing vitals and the like.

Maelstrom: Aftermath
::Tom looked pale, and remained unconscious. His blood pressure remained low, pulse faint and unsteady, breathing shallow. He was also dehydrated from the infusion Jinx had managed. In short, the flame guards were losing him...fast::

Maelstrom: Aftermath
Abi saw Grathon come in and then abruptly out afterwards. Tom and Solveig need medical attention.. They were hurt. But medical attention could be anything, right? It could just be a broken bone, right? Tom was a pretty tough mortal, he could handle it.
Abi sighed before coming out of the front doors and then found her march turn into a run. What was happening in this mortal body of hers? She felt a rush of conflicting emotions at seeing the two terribly injured figures. Guilt, anger, a touch of rage, regret-and was that remorse? Sorrow, sympathy. But most of all, worry. She was worried about both of them. Even Solveig whom whilst she didn't harbour particularly strong feelings for hadn't been terrible to her. Frustration at not having been able to help then and knowing she was likely unable to help now flowed strong too as she stood above the prone and pale form of Tom dumbstruck. She recognised when someone was dying well enough-she had after all been the cause of countless deaths before her mortalisation. The missing leg had clearly caused the problem, that was plain to see.
But she didn't want her first real friend to die.
"Can't you do something more?" She asked of the Flame Guard "He's not going to make it if you can't!"
Were Abi not so concerned with Tom, she might have stared at the Jix Jinx who was currently stood with a white cape on that she hadn't had before, glowing white eyes and was currently clutching a certain dagger whilst stood next to Bill. As it was, Abi only spared her a cursory double take just to make sure it wasn't Ariel.
Jinx however put the dagger away and joined in the fussing over the pair of casualties.

"Can't you do something more? He's not going to make it if you can't!"
Pressured while doing their job did nothing to improve the situation. Tom lost a significant volume of blood, and their magic could maintain him for so long. "Just give us some space," the other Flame Guard next to Abi retorted. They stopped the bleeding itself, easing off some swelling... they still need a donor fast.
/Grathon? Is that device working now/
/No, the replication system is jammed. All the other Endo's are charging./
"Damn it!"

Maelstrom: Aftermath
((Warning: Long post. This represents a Chat RP between me and Swix to keep time frozen for them but still be fair to the forum RP.))
At this time the world seemed to stand still for Abi. After a few breaths, Abi realized this was literal - some immortal was using their power to freeze time for all but her. At this time she noticed Ariel, today as a little girl, was kneeling over Tom. There was definitely a pained look over her face. Behind Abi stood Nero and Raph.
Abi stared, and then stared some more. This was.. what was happening? She was nothing if not confused. Confused and legitimately worried.
"What's going on? What are you doing here?", Abi asked.
“He's dying....but you know that already. He needs blood...â€, Ariel answered in a child-like voice, which betrayed the seriousness of her words.
"Of course I know that.... " Abi said back, although she halted her voice, "if he doesn't get it, he'll go, won't he?" The mortalised woman bit her lip.
As a reply to this question, Ariel simply dropped her heard lower, hiding her face in her hair.
At this point, Nero stepped forwards from behind her and tapped her on the shoulder, causing her to look up at her brother. "Nero..."
"Abi" Nero said, the Alignments 'lava lamp' face serious yet somewhat concerned. "I know this is not a good time, but we didn't come here for Tom. We came here for you. The Pantheon has decided now is the time to restore your immortality"
Abi’s eyes lit up, however she looked from Nero to Raph - who had also walked forwards to make his presence known. While Nero was Neutral, but she knew for something like this Raph was the most trustworthy.
"Is that true?", Abi asked
The Alignment of Good paused for a few minutes before nodding his head. "Yes, that's true. The Pantheon discussed this. But, Abi... Your friend will die without you. It's your blood that he needs to help him pull through"
"Abi" Nero pulled her attention back to him "The Pantheon will not wait forever for your answer. You have to pick now"
To this exchange, Ariel merely sighed, then said. "The law of conservation of energy must be observed. For something miraculous to happen, something equally miraculous must be sacrificed. In this case, to save his life, you must give up your immortal life - for now."
Abi looked from her brother Nero, then back to Raph, then to Ariel and finally back down to the frozen Tom. Rather than answer, Abi put her hands up to the side of her and then started pacing between them.
"Why'd you have to do this to me now? It's not fair!" She exclaimed, wildly flailing her arms like that was going to help matters. "Is there really no other way?"
Ariel did not answer this question either. She knew Abi knew the old laws that must be observed and would come to the same conclusion. A choice had to be made. Tom's Life, or Abi's immortality. And that choice had to be made by a mortal mind in accordance with the Law of Free Will.
Raph suddenly moved from his spot to be next to his sister like a whirlwind. Before she could protest or say anything about it the Alignment of Good had wrapped both of his arms around Abi and was squeezing her tightly. Abi’s expression was one of confusion before she closed her eyes.
"Can't you give her a minute to think, brother?" Raph asked of his brother.
Nero simply looked on impassively. "No, brother. We cannot. She must choose"
With a sigh directed more at Nero than his sister, Raph slowly loosened his grip on Abi. "It's got to be your choice, Abi, I'm truly sorry"
“ Tom knew what he was doing when he went, and knew he may not return. No one will blame you no matter what your choice....†Ariel added – as if her logical approach to this would somehow make this difficult decision easier.
However, this was obviously not what Abi wanted to hear, as her eyes suddenly fell on Ariel as though she'd just realised she was there.
"This is all your fault! He went up there to try to help you" Abi yelled to the Mad God. However simply the nature of being human made her regret those words and know she was wrong almost as soon as they'd left her mouth.
Ariel finally looked back up and Abi, revealing that in spite of her calm voice, Ariel had tears in her eyes as well.
Her voice remained steady though as she answered the accusation, saying “Tom went up there because he realized it was the right and noble thing to do. And if I could help him, I would - but the Old Laws must be observed. I cannot save him without a sacrifice, and the sacrifice must be freely given.â€
Abi stepped back as the sight as though Ariel had actually physically slapped her. Did she care, too? As Abi had grown to like and care for Tom? Abi bit her lip again so hard that precious blood came leaking out-but it was nothing compared to the pain of what the idea of losing a friend was doing to her. Abi reached up to touch the dampness of the tears that had started after she'd closed her eyes in Raphs embrace.
"Get off me" she said, surprisingly gently shoving Raph away from her before moving to look down at Tom again.
After a few moments pause to reflect, Abi quietly stated, "I won't do it"
Raph and Nero looked at each other before looking back
"You won't do what sister?" Raph asked for clarification gently.
Abi turned her head around to look at them both "I won't go back. I won’t let him die because of me"
This b rought a smile to Ariel’s face, though her tears still ran too. Grabbing Abi’s hand, she looked Abi in the eyes. The sacrifice had been given freely by a mortal. It was now permitted for Ariel to share the vital information that would save Tom’s life.
“Tom's blood type is O+. You are the only one close enough with the same blood type to save him. Tell the flame guards that you share the same blood type. They will know what to do from there.†The Mad God said to the woman.
As a reply, Abi nodded.
With a flash of light, everything started moving again. The three immortals were gone, but Tom was still dying. In Abi’s hand, where Ariel’s had been, was a Opal charm shaped like a tear on a gold chain. A reminder to the Collector that in this form, she is capable of good.

Maelstrom: Aftermath
Abi didn't even bother lookjng for her brother or her guardian after things started moving again. Instead she marched over to the Flame Guards by Tom again with an increased purpose to her walk. "Tom and I share the same blood type. I'm the only one close enough with it" she came out with, what to them would seem an all of a sudden statement.
Maelstrom: Aftermath
Surprised no one told her this sooner, the Flame Guard forgot to notice the new pendant on Abi's neck before she acted. "Perfect-I mean not this situation-"
"-Just do it."
Interrupted by the other huldra, she shook herself to regain composure and went to grab the mortal woman's arm. "You'll feel sore, but this shouldn't hurt all that much," 'Solveig' explained as orange light shealth itself against the exposed limb. It carefully searching for a proper vein and 'pop,' blood began to break through the new opening on the skin. Warm, life-sustaining blood flowed around the Flame Guard relay, directed into Tom as it bored a hole to funnel through.

Abi nearly pulled back when her arm was grabbed, but this was for her friend-actually this wasn't so bad-"Ow!" she exclaimed with a light glare as the blood vessel in her arm was popped to transfer it from her to Tom. Ok, that hurt... She would bare it.
Maelstrom: Aftermath
"My eyes... Everything is so blurry..."
Half-conscious, Solveig shuddered to and from wakefulness as her clone fed a light stream of energy to the original huldra. Best she just go to sleep entirely, and not strain herself. "How is the transfusion going you two?" the Flame Guard asked her kin.
"Very well... Ah, that should be enough to hold him now. Probably should get a rest yourself, Abi."
The openings done on both humans were carefully sealed with restorative magic. Tom luckily will live to see another day, being lifted up by one of the Guards into the Temple. The other kept an eye on Abi and this other lady who look like Anima. "Are you sure you don't need-"
"Your healing would do more harm than good."
Taken back, the Flame Guard went back to checking the rest needing care. Not only reluctant for help overall, Altima knew that said magic be detrimental. "Just tell me whoever is in charge is ready to listen... All of you Knights can be incapacitated."

Maelstrom: Aftermath
::It was at this point Ariel came out. Unlike how she had appeared to Abi during the time freeze, she looked older, maybe late-20's. He had her full battle gear on, including her japanese scythes at each hip, and her cloak on. The similiarity between how she looked and how Jinx currently looked would not be lost to anyone who noticed.
Also unlike how she looked during the time freeze, this Ariel appeared composed, and very much in command. She even had some color to her cheeks - probably a good sign she managed to get some energy back somehow.
She marched right up to Altima and Jinx. Gone was the motherly warmth Jinx normally associated with the Goddess.::
Ariel: Can anyone tell me a) what you mortals thought you were doing going up against a celestially charged Demi-god, and b) How you can take the most skilled people of the Encampment and only come back with a fraction, most of whom appear to be on death's door?
((Welcome back Angry char-DP. It's been a while))

Maelstrom: Aftermath
A shudder went through the ground as a dark spot tore itself open in the floor, revealing a whirlpool of dark colors within. Suddenly, a black, oil like hand tore its way out, held over the floor. It twitched and jerked, making terrible popping sounds as it contorted unnaturally. A fell aura washed free of raw Fear as it slammed down, splattering softly against the floor. A matching body lifted up at an unnatural rate, stopping and starting suddenly, and seeming to distort and glitch forward seconds at a time to reveal the witch of Fear herself, the mistress of Nightmares, Phoebe.
Slowly, she rose to her feet, darkness dripping along her like a liquid as her teeth shined out and her hat slowly melted over her face. With a gut wrenching snap, her body twisted around fully and formed into a mere flamelike darkness. "Winning, where you can not." Her voice echoed, dark and twisted, though lacking malice. Her nature was free for now, and it permeated her being. "We took on a threat to all of this system, and stopped her. There are no deaths, though several casualties. Tom was injured. Solveig had her power drained. The rest..." She exhaled a hissing mist. "Are within me. Someone had to get them out of the falling mess. God or no, Au'Marui, I will recommend you do not escalate a winning party's return, damaged or not. Things could have gone much worse, and they were much better than you expected."

My life is just a long series of "it seemed like a good idea at the time" strung together.

Ariel: I don't think I was addressing you, Witch. But why we are at it, a clean mission? Let me ask you, Where is Felicia? Did you even notice that she was missing? Do you know the risk you unleashed fixing this one? As it was, you let yourselves fall for the first distraction. In fact, if it wasn't for the gifts I granted my god-daughter, you'd probably still be up there stewing in your own insanity, if not worse.

Maelstrom: Aftermath
Abi held a hand over her previously tapped for blood arm before breathing "Yeah" out to the Flameguard and wobbling over to sit down on the Temple steps. Such a large loss of blood so quickly made her feel woozy and light headed. So she stared at Ariel hard for a few minutes before registering who it was.
Jinx, on the other hand, though currently riding high on the massive amounts of energy the Sanity Blade had pumped into her was quite intimidated by angry Ariel. She didn't like like it when her godmother was angry. "I... We... It was Toms idea to go without you... So I went to help them because there's not many others who could... Toms and Abis..."

Maelstrom: Aftermath
For not participating in the mission, sure felt like she got the short end of the stick. Altima cowered not in the face of the Goddess, though twitched upon the Elder being's arrival. Phoebe better not insist on healing her again. "... I could only predict what was unveiled to me," the Distortionist explained to Ariel, too annoyed with the witch at the moment. She had warned Eldritch forces would muddle up her visions.
"In all likelihood from what I foresaw, Skathi would have escaped somehow during the fight... She has been dealt with accordingly," Altima spoke vaguely, not a main concern so long the huldra no longer was a threat.
